We had the good fortune of connecting with Samej Richardson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samej, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was ultimately to create something that could help or motivate people to take their fitness journey more seriously. There are a lot of different barriers that prevent people from taking the initiative to get into working out. I wanted my business to be one that could teach individuals how to overcome those barriers.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of the best compliments I have heard in my life is that I am very well-rounded. There isn’t just one thing that I have done or am doing. I started my adult life finishing college and being in the military. While in college, I spent years teaching myself, learning and practicing photography/videography and graphic design to a professional level (which has benefitted me so much because I do all my logos and promos for everything i am invested into).
Alongside all of my side goals, I currently am an Athletic Services Manager at the Four Seasons here in the DFW where I also personal train clients.
Being 26 years old, I am unbelievably proud of the person I have become on my journey and the amount of feats I have accomplished. I am always looking for ways to become better and achieve more. I truly believe that nothing I strive for is hard to get. If God put it in my path, he put it there because he knows I can do it one way or another. I’ve learned to be positive, be studious at all times and be the hardest worker I can possibly be. So if there is one thing I want people to know about my brand and my story, I want them to know that it started as a blank canvas and through hard-work, prayer and a humble attitude, it has grown and will grow to be something SPECIAL.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Coming from a smaller state of North Carolina, Texas has truly been a new experience for me. If a best friend is coming to Dallas for a week long trip, I think I would plan for us to just be out and very active with all that Dallas has to offer. I’m big on trying new foods so there are a few restaurants here that I would recommend us to go. One example: First Watch for brunch.
Because I’m big on art and history, I would also recommend us going to a place like the JFK museum or art museum. With me being a nature person as well, I’m sure I would suggest us checking out the DFW zoo or taking a hike at somewhere like Cedar Ridge Preserve, which is an amazing trail.
Bowling, Top Golf, Ziplining, Festivals, Concerts, Jet Ski, Batting Cages, Skating, Arcades etc are all things I would love to do. Therefore, if Dallas has it then nothing is off limits!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give some well-deserved recognition to my business partner, Darius Spady. When originally starting my fitness journey years ago, he played a huge part in staying accountable with me and helping me brainstorm the idea of the business. Meeting in 2018 at an Army school, we had no idea that we would come up with something so special to us.
