Meet Samantha Wortley: Embroiderer, Mom, Philanthropist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Wortley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, what are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate in life about helping those that need help the most in life. Whether it be helping animals, children, or people that are being abused, fighting hunger, helping spread education, or helping raise money for cancer research, I feel our work in this world to make it a better place is never fully done. My mother taught me empathy at an early age, and I have always felt compelled to help others and give if I am able to.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sew Stitchin’ Fancy is personal from the start. The name itself and my logo both represent me. The logo is of my favorite color in life… pink! I also love a good play on words, so my business name I came up with was a perfect fit. I believe there is always room for a little fancy added to every aspect in life as well! I am proud of the fact that I am a one woman show, and I love when customers come to me to add that extra-ness to their home, clothing, gift, or whatever it is I am helping them to make more special with my monograms. When I initially set out with Sew Stitchin’ Fancy, I had hopes of “eventually” turning this into a fun, side business. To my pleasure and surprise ,the business took off very quickly with the help of Instagram as well as the big “mom network” I am a part of with the huge word of mouth avenue. I take pride in my work and love hearing and seeing my customers so happy with their Sew Stitchin’ Fancy things! I am truly so grateful for all of my clients letting me into their lives in every way by letting me be a part of so many special memories and gifts.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I moved to Dallas after graduating from UT Austin by way of Houston. I am definitely a Texas girl and absolutely love showing people around my city and state. I personally love to go out to eat and shop when I go on a vacation or to visit an out of town friend, so I typically make sure to show people my favorite spots in those categories! I love shopping at Highland Park Village as it’s so nice to be able to stroll outside from shop to shop and it’s such a beautiful shopping center in the heart of the city. My all time favorite restaurant in Dallas, Cafe Pacific, is also there and I always love to take people there for dinner! The other shopping mecca here in Dallas that I love is NorthPark. On days that the Texas weather isn’t so cooperative, NorthPark is such a beautiful place with wonderful stores to spend hours shopping in! After we have shopped til we dropped, I would probably recommend a fun spa treatment at one of my two favorite spas in town- The Ritz and the Joule Spa! I always have consistently good service at both and both spas are so beautiful and relapsing to spend some time in. Before the itinerary ends, I would ensure we hit up a Tex Mex restaurant (or two…) to get some chips, salsa, and skinny margs! A few of my favorites are Jose, Javiers, and Mico!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would not be where I am today without my family. I am so grateful for the unwavering support of my Mom, husband, and children who allow me to have this creative outlet and business. In addition, I am surrounded by so many inspiring women and mom’s in my personal network that show that with some balancing effort, we are able to be a present mother while still having something that is just for “us” outside of our children.
