We had the good fortune of connecting with Charlie Francesca and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charlie, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I spent all of my school-aged years prepping for college and my future career. I was even planning on majoring in English and eventually being a teacher. I applied for colleges, got accepted, etc. I was so close to doing what I thought I had to. My parents were very supportive and gave me the idea to maybe explore other options-they told me to look at trade schools. They told me I dont have to fit in a box and should spend my life doing something I am passionate about! So after that I immediately went to cosmetology school. I had always played with my own hair and my friends’ hair-it only made sense I learned to do it the right way!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe my one on one relationships that I have built with my clients truly sets me apart. I have worked very hard on building my ‘brand’ on the idea of being open, honest, and transparent. While doing hair, I work on obviously giving them their hair goals, but also building a safe space for my clients! I think every one of my clients would tell you I tell it like it is! I will work my hardest and build that trust. That’s my brand.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I have lived in Fort Worth for 2 years now, worked here for almost 4, and I never want to leave! I would take them to my neighborhood-near southside. We would eat our dinner at Coco Shrimp, walk across the street to Loft 22 Cakes to get some dessert. Then grab a drink at Bearded Lady or go to Game Theory to play some board games and have one of their amazing cocktails. We’d also DEFINITELY go for a walk at Trinity Trails, and take our kids to Dream Park. Its the best park to have a picnic at. Probably top everything off with a stroll down Magnolia St, to look at the amazing Fairmount houses, grab a beer at Boiled Owl, eat dinner at Spice and finish up getting ice cream from Melt! I am legitimately obsessed with where I live!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My friends-Cristen Anguish, Bri McElroy, Jessica Castillo at South Main District Salon have always been there for any guidance I needed and really just keeping me sane! They are the work family I always wanted and I 100% would not be where I am today without their support.
