Meet Sally Zuraikat | Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist – Supervisor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sally Zuraikat and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sally, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
When I think about risk, I see it as an act of faith — faith in growth, in purpose, and in the possibility that something meaningful is waiting on the other side of uncertainty.
Moving from my home country to the United States was my first big leap. I arrived with hope, and a dream that felt much bigger than me. Studying for my master’s in a language that wasn’t my own was another risk — one that stretched me daily, not just academically, but personally. Every lecture, every paper, every moment of confusion taught me resilience and the value of being uncomfortable for the sake of growth.
As I learned about the culture, I also learned about people — their needs, their struggles, their hearts. That curiosity became my compass. It pushed me to take yet another risk: starting a business as an immigrant. There was no roadmap, just a calling to serve and to create something that could help others feel seen and supported. Over time, that small seed of an idea expanded into something that now includes more people, more voices, and a shared mission to uplift our communities and cities.
Writing my booklet “The Relationship Crucible: Transforming Conflict into Connection” was another kind of risk — a vulnerable one. But I saw it as a sliding door, a way to reach those who might not have access to counseling and still equip them with tools for healing and self-understanding. It became a bridge between my professional work and my heart’s mission — to make emotional and mental wellness more accessible to everyone.
For me, risk has been the language of growth — the bridge between who I was and who I continue to become- and I’m always surprised and grateful with the outcome!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to help people. I still remember crying in fourth grade, telling my mother that I wanted to be a counselor — even though I didn’t really know what that meant at the time. I just knew I wanted to be there for people who were hurting.
Growing up, I saw the beauty of my parents’ love and the stability they gave me and my siblings. But I also saw others around us struggling — children without parents, couples fighting to stay together, families breaking apart. My heart ached for them, and I think that’s where my calling began.
Over the years, I’ve traveled to many countries and witnessed people’s pain up close — whether it was in war zones, poverty, or quiet moments of loss. Those experiences shaped my understanding of humanity and deepened my belief that no matter how dark things feel, there is always hope, restoration, and growth.
My business, Collin Care Counseling, was born out of that belief. It’s not just a business to me — it feels like a member of my family. It’s always on my mind and in my prayers. I’m constantly dreaming, planning, and looking for ways to reach more people who need support and healing.
The journey hasn’t been easy. Starting a practice, especially as an immigrant, came with many challenges — language, culture, and self-doubt among them. But I learned that no one is looking for perfection. People simply want to be heard, seen, and accepted. That sense of belonging doesn’t happen by accident; it takes intentionality, compassion, and humility.
If there’s one thing I want the world to know about my story, it’s that dreams can come true. No matter where you start or what you’ve been through, growth and connection are always within reach.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Coming from the Middle East, hospitality is at the core of who we are. When people visit, our home becomes their home. We gather around authentic Middle Eastern meals, stay up late sharing stories, laughter, and connection. I love taking guests to explore our city — strolling through downtown Dallas or McKinney, visiting local shops, introducing them to our faith family at church, and sometimes enjoying a fun day together at Six Flags. It’s my way of blending the warmth of my culture with the vibrancy of our community here in Collin County.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
there are so many people who deserve recognition in my story. First and foremost, my mother, who taught me perseverance, the importance of having a voice, and the courage to stand up for what is right. Her strength and determination have been my greatest examples.
I also owe so much to my husband and children. Without their love, encouragement, and belief in me, I wouldn’t be where I am today. They remind me daily why I do what I do and inspire me to keep growing, dreaming, and serving with purpose.
