We had the good fortune of connecting with Rumbie Praise and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rumbie, why did you pursue a creative career?
Makeup is art that I am so passionate about since a young age. I would even wear it to school even though it was prohibited. That’s how much I love makeup and I just love the joy it brings others/clients when I enhance their beauty.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My full name is Rumbidzai Praise Magoga, known as Rumbie Praise. I am a 22 year old girl from Zimbabwe, now residing in Dallas Texas. I am a Self Taught Makeup artist. Beauty was always something I was so fascinated about and I started taking it seriously when I was 17years old. I would watch makeup tutorials on YouTube and practice on myself almost everyday until I got a hang of it. I wanted it so bad so I kept on pushing. To be honest, I never saw myself doing makeup on other people, I was just doing it for me. But I’m so proud of where the journey has brought me and how far I’ve come. I can now call myself a Celebrity makeup artist. I’ve worked with the likes of Jekalyn Carr, 4 time Grammy Nominee,J BOLIN, the best fashion stylist and designer I know, Young dolph, a rapper from Memphis and more to come God willing. I’m just a girl from Africa and, I’ve learnt a lot, I have been connected to so many people who have become family. All these connections came from God, I’ve never gone to school for this. And all glory goes to Him. One lesson I have learnt and will always carry with me is, Always be humble and never look down on anyone. You don’t know their story or where they are going. In a world where you can be anything, Be kind to people.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to Dallas, I definitely would take her to so many places…the aquarium, Fort Worth zoo, go and get makeovers together, and also do fun activities such as horse riding. One of my favorite eating spots that I would take them to is African Fusion in Dallas, Grand Luxe Café, Fogo De Chao and Outback Steakhouse. I barely go out though.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Firstly I want to thank God for giving me this gift. It has brought so much happiness to me, income and so many connections. Without God I wouldn’t be here. I also want to thank the one and only Jekalyn Carr, 4time Grammy Nominee for seeing my gift in me. She was the first celebrity I worked with here in the USA and my life has changed ever since. Will forever be grateful to her
