We had the good fortune of connecting with Roni Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Roni, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I always knew I was going to be an entrepreneur. It just took me some time to find my niche. I started out making handmade custom earrings when I was 17, then I opened an online boutique and slowly implemented clothing. I had my online boutique for 3 years and it was doing very well. Then I started an online Bath Bakery where I was making handmade natural bath and body, that looked and smelled like desserts. And now, here I am! With my own Bakery. My thought process behind opening a business has always been a positive one. My goal was and still is to create a platform for my family to work, gain experience and to create generational wealth.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is my cooking/baking. It’s my expression of love that I have to share with the world. If you ever have one of my pastries or desserts, you will be able to taste the love and time that it takes me to prepare it. I try to set myself apart from other Pastry artist, by making and creating new flavors and different mash up desserts. My bakery is not your typical dessert shop, we mix and made up some of the world’s favorite desserts to make a new and tasty treat that you will love at first bite. Getting to this point in my career definitely was not easy. There have been ups and downs and trial and error, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. A lot of people look at failure as something bad, I look at it as the greatest teacher and lesson learned. I wish I could say that I got everything right at first, but it took some failures for me to perfect my craft. The best way to overcome challenges is to stay positive. Keep your head up, and realize that God never puts more on us than we came bare. If He put you through, He will get you through it. My faith is so strong in God, this is how I get through my most toughest of challenges. I have learned some harsh lessons along the way. One being that everyone can’t go to the top with you. Some people are meant to be permanently in your life and others are lessons. And it’s up to us to learn the difference. I would like the world to know, that The Pa$try Plug Bakery Bar is definitely a unique experience. If you are looking for delicious and decadent desserts out of the ordinary, then we are the dessert shop for you.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting for a week, we would most definitely go on a restaurant tour. I feel like Texas has some of the most delicious spots to eat and all of them are not mainstream spots. The first spot on the list would be: Pappadeaux Aunt Irene’s The Oceanaire Texas Roadhouse Turkey Leg Hut Cattleshack Barbecue Bubba’s Cooks Country Homewood Restaurant As far as places to go, definitely Dallas Zoo Dallas Aquatium Dallas Botanical Garden Six Flags Over Texas Red Door Escape Room PaniQ Escape Room The Nines Taboo Lounge Sandra 813 Park Avenue These are all some cool places to eat, and checkout.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are actually multiple people who deserve recognition. My Mother and my Grandmother have always been extremely influential in my life. They showed me what hard work and dedication will do for you. The taught me that education is everything, and that no one can take that away from you.. They have always been my biggest supporters and literally pushed me to be the best I can be in all areas of my life. My mother has literally rode with me on each and every endeavor, lol. She’s really been my co pilot, and encouraging me to keep going. Secondly, my family is absolutely the best. My Fiancé, my Uncles, Aunts and cousins love and support me so much.. They have supported everything that I have been evolved with. The love and encouragement I get from them is second to none.
