Meet Ronesha Heath | Hairstylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ronesha Heath and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ronesha, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson my business has taught me was that when it’s done right; it will take time and patience for the exposure you would like to obtain. I’ve learned that it takes a lot of networking and creativity to stand out so finding your niche is very key and important to vital success. Sometimes you’re not ready for the challenges that arrive unexpectedly but the show must still go on. Furthermore, why would your let your time go in vain into creating your passion with something that burns and fuels inside you each and everyday. Let’s handle business, take the right risk and take flight.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In a more artist aspect, I professionally write music and perform shows to get my songs out there. I love non-profit work because it allows me to interact and engage with others like myself and to also share my ideas and stories to connect to my audience. The one thing that I am most proud about is that I beat the threshold of the burnout process of starting a business which is like five years sort of speak by taking it slow amd staying in the field of what I am good at which is hair amd music helps because it creates a more beautiful painting.
I got here off of just taking a chance on my myself. I went to school for nine months straight, graduated then my performances had me running in circles like literally. No, it was easy because I was a starving artist trying to make sure I succeed. I had no job, barely any money and the money that I had went towards transportation and food. So now I’m eating off seven dollars in tips from clients that I receive and the big amounts of money I do work for in between went to motel rooms and food. Of course, I was talked about, frowned upon amd it made people a bit skeptical but still showed up and showed out each and everytime. The lessons I’ve learned was to always be patient, network and always be on time. If you’re early, you’re on time; if you’re on time then you’re late so always be prepared. What I would like the world to know is to take your time and come up with a strategic plan to follow to stay on track. You’re going to be alone, have stressful days and even take some time off but the most important thing to remember is that they talk about you when you’re in the arts but they look at your success. Keep branding and keep promoting to those that count because it all pays off in the end when they see you on stage, your own store or hair shop. Trust me you’re going to always succeed and find a way.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The most exciting place would be in my city, Dallas, TX. They have events such as day parties and nightclub performances where celebrities would come and perform. The House of Blues is out here as well so you can catch your favorite artist there. Next, my favorite place would be the AT&T Discovery Arts District which has a huge TV screen for movies to be played for family and friends and very upscale. The museum is very educational, interactive and safe even for small children. Let’s not forget about the food. It has a remarkable menu that
satisfies the taste palette. Lastly, the night club scenery is filled with bars and lounges so if you want to get a drink or two or just wind down then this would be your go-to place. Please drink responsibly and have a designated driver. Lastly, Deep Ellum which is widely known club open every single night so the club is packed, the atmosphere is hyped and you’re having a good time with your friends and security is always enforced so it’s always safe even after hours.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First off, I would like to thank my parents for pushing me to be here and present through my storms. I would like to thank Marcus Hodges for mentoring me and pulling the strings for me to be the best and always being there after finishing cosmetology school. I participate in three organizations and those are I.B.O.C, Mt. Zion COGIC, Friendshipwest and OCBF all located in Dallas by the way. Lastly, to my grandparents, aunts and uncles for getting me up every single day to handle business and wouldn’t let up until this dream came true. I wouldn’t have lasted with the support of all. I thank everyone and most importantly my brother who works hard everyday. I love you.
