We had the good fortune of connecting with Robbie Estill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robbie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Dogs have always been a major passion of mine. Once I saw the opportunity to mix my love for dogs and help people and families along the way, I knew this was something I had to pursue to fulfill my mind, body and soul. As much as this seems like a dog business, (which it is) it’s just as much or more a people business. Being able to educate people on the subject of mother nature and teaching people how to build a happy, healthy and balanced life with their dog, fills my heart. So, my thought behind starting the business was that the more humans we can educate, the dogs we can save. Not just now but in decades to come!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The startup of any business can be daunting and scary, but I never lost focus of the main agenda. Educating human beings on the importance of Dog Psychology so we can create a communication form with our dogs to create healthy balanced relationships. The misconception of the term “dog training” to most means training that is only command based. Sit, Stay, Heal, etc. But at Estill Dog Psychology we focus on the brain first and the body second. When we can create and reward a calm state of mind, we can start to change associations for the dog which in turn can start to teach the dog that the human being can be a source of information and safety which creates healthy balanced relationships.

The major lesson learned along the way, and I still practice every day is patience. Not everything is meant to happen overnight. And in dog behavior it’s not a race it’s a journey. There is no finish line, take your time, slow down and live in the moment…just like dogs do!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite spots we must hit up if I have guest coming in town would definitely Hiem BBQ, Serious Pizza or Dixie House Cafe. We would also need to catch a Rangers game and Globe Life Feild. Also, got to stop into Elm Street Tattoo and get a little tat to remember the trip. We could catch the Lola’s Rock and Roll rummage sale and then ride some bikes on the Trinity Trails.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate this shout out to my late father Rob Estill. He was the rock in my life, the one that taught me work ethic and the importance of being dependable. My first experiences in life around animals were because of him. He trained bird hunting dogs when he was a youth and passed on the love, passion and knowledge of animals down to me. Without my dad this business would never have existed. Even though he’s no longer here, he’s always with me and I’m forever thankful for him.
