We had the good fortune of connecting with Rita Stevens and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rita, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As parents of a special needs child, we know firsthand the challenges of navigating an often overwhelming system—searching for the right resources, building meaningful connections, and trying to find our way while feeling isolated. Our journey with our son, Bryson, was filled with moments of uncertainty and frustration.

Because of that experience, we felt compelled to create something we wish we had—a supportive space for other parents walking a similar path. We built our mission on the very pillars where we once struggled, turning our hardships into hope for others.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Service is at the core of everything we do. As parents walking the same path, we want families to know that we genuinely care and are committed to their well-being. Creating this organization was just the beginning—our way of turning shared struggles into meaningful support.

From the start, we were intentional about building a foundation rooted in real-life experience. Our board members were carefully chosen not only for their passion but also because they live and breathe the four pillars that guide our mission: Healthcare, Education, Nutrition, and Community Engagement.

This journey hasn’t been easy—but it has absolutely been worth it. Every time we witness the impact we have on families, we’re reminded why we started.

Two of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned along the way are to be patient with yourself and to understand that not every opportunity is the right one. These insights have shaped how we grow and serve.

Silent Voyces exists to uplift, support, and empower. Our mission is to remind parents that their voices matter. Born from resilience and strength, our story is a testament to perseverance—and we hope it inspires others to stay the course and build their own strength, too.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Day 1 – Welcome to DFW!
We’d kick things off with brunch at Bread Winners Café in Uptown Dallas Afterward, we’d walk off the calories at Klyde Warren Park, then hit up the Dallas Museum of Art and explore the Arts District. Dinner? We’d head to Shinsei Restaurant, Stylish staple for Asian fusion cooking.

Day 2 – Fort Worth Vibes
We’d drive over to Fort Worth and dive into some cowboy culture at the Stockyard. We’d grab lunch at Joe T. Garcia’s (a must for Mexican food and a beautiful patio). In the evening, we would watch a local play.

Day 3 – Nature + Chill
We’d would be a stroll through the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Then we’d rent bikes and cruise the lake trail. For dinner, we would be spontaneous

Day 4 – Shopping & Hidden Gems
We’d hit Bishop Arts District—grab coffee at a local shop then spend the day boutique-hopping. Lunch at Oddfellows. At night, we’d head to Reunion Tower to get the full skyline view.

Day 5 – Art & History
Explore African American Museum and The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, then walk. Catch a bite to eat at Kitchen & Kocktails.

Day 6 – Day/Night Out
Road trip to Grapevine—ride the vintage railroad (if running), do a wine tasting, or check out Gaylord Texas. We would later grab a bite and visit Scat Jazz Lounge

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a special shoutout to the inspiration behind Silent Voyces—my son, Bryson Stevens. His resilience and unwavering strength have been my greatest source of motivation, constantly reminding us that no matter the obstacles, we have the power to rise and keep moving forward.

I also want to recognize my amazing husband, Bryant, who not only came up with the name Silent Voyces but has been a constant pillar of support throughout this journey.

A heartfelt thank you as well to our incredible board of directors, whose dedication and passion have helped give Silent Voyces a true presence in the community we are honored to serve.
