We had the good fortune of connecting with Raquelin Guerrero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Raquelin, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose a creative career because I knew I didn’t want to sit in an office for the rest of my life and do the same routine day in and day out. I wanted to be able to connect with wonderful people from different places and just experience life. For me, photography lets me relive the moments of making people happy. I look through my past and current work and think to myself “Wow, I really did that.” I knew at a young age I wasn’t going to have the same path as my peers and I’m really glad I didn’t give up on myself. Getting to this marker in my life hasn’t been the easiest but the journey of learning and improving my skills has definitely made it worth while.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I really would have to say that branding is what keeps me most busy. It has taken me 5 years to finally figure out what really represents my brand. A lot of what makes me different from other photography creatives is my editing style. I consider my editing True to Color with a warmer side. I have invested in many workshops to create content just so I could work on my editing style.

While attending those workshops I learned how to connect with clients on a personal level, which I believe is very important when working with the public. Once I gained the knowledge for connecting and posing, I began to see my photography career flourish! I am so happy have been able to make friends with the families and couples I have photographed. I just love when they reach out to me for their milestones.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit I would like to show them the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens or the Immersive Vincent Van Gogh Exhibit. Afterwards, we’d probably go for some sushi and have a couple of drinks to hang out while we catch up of life.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I really want to shoutout all of the other creatives I’ve met along the way. There isn’t one person who wasn’t gracious enough to lend me advice. I have met some really awesome people like Kendrick Terrell Photography, Gillian Menzie Photography, Anna Kay Photography, Megan Smart Photography, Kelsey Kaplan Photography, just to name a few. I would have to say these wonderful people really impacted my photography life.
