We had the good fortune of connecting with Ramese Hearon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ramese, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote would have to be a song lyric actually by Kevin Gates “anything lost can be found again except for time wasted”

To me this means no matter what you have lost in this world it is replaceable, it may not be the exact same feeling but I am sure you can get pretty close. However time wasted isn’t replaceable. Once that day is gone, the moment has passed, and the feeling fade. You can never get that back!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

There are 3 things I always say make up Ramese: dance, fashion, and mental health! I have built 3 entities, More Than Mental Project – Nonprofit organization, More Than Movement – Dance Collective and Sowing Seeds Apparel – Clothing Line.

It’s funny because when people ask me “What’s sets me apart” I am always at a loss for words. I never think I am doing anything “special”, so nothing really sets me apart. However, my brand is what sets me apart. I found a way to turn my 3 genuine passions into my businesses. I know that is far from revolutionary by any means. I just say the businesses I did create I am extremely proud of! Coming from a place where I had NO clue what I was doing in this world to finding myself and being able to turn it into a full-time job is absolutely insane to me.

I got to where I am today by failing… A LOT! I started living my life off the quote “Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.” I learned to take the risk; the worst you can do is fail. It hasn’t been easy. I have learned to be best friends with rejection. Learned that it is okay to get 100 “No’s” because that one yes will be so much sweeter.

The thing I want people to take away from any of my businesses or work is LOVE! From the More Than Mental Project, to More Than Movement, all the way down to each piece of clothing sold at Sowing Seeds Apparel. I want it to be rooted in LOVE. The love God has for me, that I have for myself, my family, my friends, my community, my passions, and even the strangers I meet. I want everyone I encounter to say, “I know he has made mistakes but he always has love in his heart.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am such a homebody it doesn’t make any sense, like when I go out of town I will explore and do all sorts of things. However, being home is my safe space! I truly do not go out, I am sorry! If my friends say they are going to visit me. I suggest to them we meet somewhere else together! However, I do love this mom-and-pop restaurant in Lewisville called Bistecca.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout can never be accredited to one person, my journey has been long, crazy, funny, hard, and inspiring. It is all thanks to the amazing people I have met along the way. I love every one of them whether they are still a part of my journey doesn’t matter to me. I know that without each encounter I wouldn’t be where I am today. A few I can say would be my mom; her patience that has allowed me the time to figure myself out and find my passion in my businesses is truly a blessing (also helping me financially when things got rough) my best-friends and staff, Karina, Maraiah, Tyler A, Dallas, KT & Tyler D ! These guys have shown up and shown out each time I have needed. No task is too big or small for them. They give 100% each time. My cousin Tahja, for constantly pushing me, and reminding me no dream is too big! My business partners Jessica and Melissa, thank you for taking a chance on me, and so many others!

A few that I would be remiss if I didn’t mention, thank you Kevin, Jacqueline, Ruben, Jake, Bailey, and Courtney. You each helped me in ways I could never repay you for, and although our journey together ended, my love for each of you never will.
