Meet Rachel Caldwell | At home Baker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Caldwell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I became a mom at a young age and never got into any sort of career. I finished my associates of science but since having kids, my husband and I agreed it made sense for me to stay home. I’ve always loved to bake and I wanted to create something fun and unique that not everyone was doing. Back in 2021, my sister and sister in law really encouraged me to start my own business. At this point our youngest was 6 months old but I really wanted to have something for myself and baking is what I love to do. I started making a variety of flavors of cookie sandwiches. I have 13 on my menu at the moment and I’m constantly working on creating more flavors. September will be 3 years in business and I’ve grown to almost 1.1k followers in my small town of Caddo Mills, Tx

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m actually a stay at home mom! I’ve been a stay at home mom for 9 years now. After having 3 kids, I decided I wanted to do something that I love and could be creative while still being a stay at home mom. I have always been a baker and started my own cookie business out of my home in Dallas, Tx, 3 years ago. I love to be creative and utilize my visual art through baking and now crafting drinks at home! I’m most excited about seeing where social media can take me, I plan to continue to spread and grow a positive platform and show my talents to the world. I’ve never had a career, nothing is ever easy but with the support of my husband, family, and friends, it makes things a lot easier haha
I’ve learned a lot. I think keeping an open mind, allowing constructive criticism, and don’t let people take advantage of your generosity.
I would love for people to know that I pour my heart and soul into everything that I do. I’m not perfect as I’ll never be but when I’m passionate about something I’m always up for the challenge and won’t give up until I succeed. You can do anything you set your mind to.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Fort Worth – the stockyards is a must see and do when visiting DFW. Book a stay at hotel Drover, watch the cattle drive, lunch at Second rodeo brewing, dessert ( Ice cream at Melt), attend a concert at Billy Bobs, there’s so much to see and do.
From hiking at Marion sansom park, brunch at Hash kitchen, Visit the Fort Worth water gardens, stockyards rodeo at night. If you want a taste of DFW, your first stop should be in Fort Worth

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Though running a business is fun, it’s not easy. We have 3 kids and my husband has really helped hold down the fort when I’m
booked. He’s also listened to my ideas and given my advice when I need it. My family has been supportive since day 1! My sister and sister in law pushed me and encouraged me, part of my business name is my nickname “Chel” (kel) something my brother still calls me to this day and even my nieces and nephews call me Auntie Chel. My parents and my friends, even my customers always sharing and recommending my business. I couldn’t thank everyone enough for helping me continue to be successful
