We had the good fortune of connecting with Priscilla Carrasquillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Priscilla, what do you want people to remember about you?
Firstly, I aspire to be remembered as someone that pursue her passions, regardless of societal norms or expectations.
I hope to leave behind a lasting imprint through the creative work of my company. I want to be known for creating meaningful, thought-provoking content that sparks conversations, challenges perspectives, and fosters positive change.
Ultimately, I aspire to leave behind a legacy of creativity, courage, and compassion—a legacy that transcends boundaries, inspires others to dream big, and leaves the world a little brighter than I found it.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I studied Advertising, Graphic Design and Public Relations in the Dominican Republic, but I never had a job in my area because they always required experience. I also wanted to venture into the area of making t-shirts, but I was told that it is a career for men. And that was one of the things that inspired me the most in starting my own company, my own brand, my own designs and my own prints to create my own opportunities.
When I moved to the United States to study, I had the opportunity to work in the printing and graphic design area, being able to create books, social media posts, banners, stationary, and more. I was finally able to put into practice everything I had learned.
You can fulfill your dreams, regardless of what they tell you. If you have the passion, you can achieve it. If you don’t have the experience, create your own experience.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First we would go to The Berni Bean Coffee Co. for a pistachio latte with a biscotti and walk around the downtown area. There are many places to visit such as the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, The Dallas World Aquarium and the Klyde Warren Park. For lunch I would go to Miriam Cocina Latina, since we are in the area.
And at night we would move to the Bishop Arts area, I like the atmosphere there to walk, see shops, have dinner at La Comida Mexican Kitchen and dessert at Emporium Pies.
I definitely have more ideas and places, but let’s leave it there for now.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, Yadriel, who has always supported me and inspired me to grow despite my doubts and fears of being a first generation entrepreneur.
