Meet Peace Obisesan | Founder, TunTun’s Place

We had the good fortune of connecting with Peace Obisesan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Peace, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The inspiration behind starting TunTun’s Place came from a deeply personal and heartfelt place. My mother played a pivotal role in shaping the values of family, love, and community that I hold dear today. Growing up, she always found creative ways to bring our family together, making every moment special and memorable. These experiences left a lasting impression on me and underscored the importance of family bonding and support.
It was my mother’s dream to open a kids’ play space where children could explore, learn, and have fun in a nurturing environment. Although she wasn’t able to see this dream come to fruition herself (she passed away in 2016 on Valentine’s Day), I am deeply honored to carry on her legacy through TunTun’s Place. Every aspect of TunTun’s is a reflection of her heart, warmth, and spirit.
When I looked around, I noticed a gap in spaces dedicated to holistic family experiences—places where both parents and children could engage meaningfully and joyfully. I wanted to create a place where families could bond through fun and creative activities, where kids could play and let their imaginations soar, and where parents could connect with like-minded individuals to build a supportive community – all in one space.
The decision to start TunTun’s Place was also fueled by a desire to give back and make a positive impact on families. I envisioned a space that celebrates the magic of family connections and supports parents in their journey, recognizing that they need love and community too. Moreover, I wanted TunTun’s Place to stand for something greater, which is why a portion of our proceeds goes towards non-profits supporting children, families, and couples struggling with infertility.
In essence, TunTun’s Place was born out of a love for family and community, and a passion for creating a space where precious memories are made and cherished. It’s about giving families the tools and opportunities to bond, play, and connect in ways that enrich their lives and strengthen their relationships. Through TunTun’s Place, I am proud to keep my mother’s dream alive and share her legacy with families everywhere.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
TunTun’s Place is a unique family-oriented space designed to create meaningful bonding experiences for parents and children. What sets us apart is our holistic approach, encapsulated in our three pillars: Bond, Play, and Connect.
– Bond: We provide activities and experiences for parents and kids to build precious memories together.
– Play: We create a fun and imaginative environment where children can unleash their creativity and have fun.
– Connect: We foster a virtual and in-person community for parents to connect with like-minded individuals, offering support and building a network of friendships.
I am incredibly proud of the sense of community we have built and the joy we bring to families. Our pop-up events are more than just fun activities; they are opportunities for families to grow closer and for parents to find support and camaraderie.
Getting TunTun’s Place to where it is today has been a journey filled with both challenges and triumphs. The inspiration behind TunTun’s Place came from my late mother, whose dream was to open a kids’ play space. I am honored to carry on her legacy through TunTun’s Place, and every aspect of it reflects her heart, warmth, and spirit.
Building this business was not easy. We faced challenges such as securing funding, finding the right locations for our pop-up events, and creating a brand that truly resonates with our audience. However, with persistence, a dedicated team, and the unwavering support of our community, we are overcoming these obstacles.
One of the key factors in our success has been the incredible support from business and branding coaches, Devin Wilmott Johnson (DWJ Consulting) and Linda Ayoade (LOI Graphics). Their exceptional guidance and expertise have been instrumental in bringing the vision of TunTun’s Place to life.
Throughout this journey, I have learned several important lessons:
1. Community is Everything: The support and feedback from our community have been invaluable. Building strong relationships with our TunTun’s Tribe and listening to their needs have helped us grow and improve.
2. Persistence Pays Off: There will always be challenges, but staying focused on the goal and being persistent can help overcome even the toughest obstacles.
3. Adapt and Innovate: Being flexible and open to new ideas is crucial. We constantly strive to improve our offerings and create new and exciting experiences for our families.
4. Teamwork: Surrounding myself with a dedicated and passionate team has been essential. The combined efforts and talents of my team have made TunTun’s Place what it is today.
I want the world to know that TunTun’s Place is built on love, family, and the dream of my beloved mother. We are committed to creating a space where families can bond, children can play and unleash their imagination, and parents can connect with a supportive community – all in one space. Additionally, we believe in giving back; a portion of our proceeds goes towards non-profits supporting children, families, and couples struggling with infertility.
TunTun’s Place is more than just a business; it is a tribute to my mother’s dream and a testament to the power of community and family. We are excited about the future and look forward to continuing to create magical moments and lasting memories for families.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the DFW area and the diverse experiences it offers! We’ll start with a delicious Korean feast at Koryo BBQ, then tour Reunion Tower for stunning city views. We’ll explore cultural treasures at the Dallas Museum of Art and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, restaurant hop on Preston Road, shop at Frisco Stonebriar Mall for an array of stores and boutiques, and cap off our adventure with some fun at Mac Karaoke. Dallas truly has something for everyone!
