Meet Noah Asher | Award-Winning Author & Podcast Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Noah Asher and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Noah, what inspires you?
Years ago, I was incarcerated and tried taking my life. I felt hopeless and helpless. Since getting out, I have become an Award-Winning Author (shout out to my book, “CHAOS: Overcoming the Overwhelming”) and now I host this podcast called, INSIDE OUT. INSIDE OUT is for people inside prison and for their loved ones on the outside. We stream on over ONE MILLION tablets inside prisons and jails across the nation. But here’s the difference in my show: we don’t bash the system. Yes, we all know the system is broken and there are some great podcasts that identify the problems with America’s incarceration system. The theme of my show was created to combat hopelessness and helplessness. This is why each episode is filled with Hope, Help, Humor. Yes, even humor. This is where we play a game with our guests! I want our listeners to walk away each week feeling empowered and inspired. I want our listeners to know they still have a purpose!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a writer and podcaster are two things I would have never put on my Bingo card. I hated to write in school. And podcasting just seemed too impossible for a guy like myself. But here I am. Writing became therapeutic for myself. It was a way to explain in detail how I felt. And podcasting became a way to spotlight other people’s stories. I’m no therapist by any means, but I love that INSIDE OUT feels like a way to discuss each person’s journey in the world of incarceration. We are currently releasing episodes each Tuesday for Season Two…and we have some incredibly BIG names on the show. I love that people are seeing the need in bringing this Hope, Help, Humor to those who are hurting! Who knew my past would have pointed me to this purpose?!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Gosh. What a question. I love going out to eat. In Scripture, we see Jesus focused on food a bunch. It’s because the table was such an important place in Jewish custom. And I like the table for the same reason. It’s an opportunity to celebrate, share, laugh, cry, and so much more! So, we would definitely hit up some local restaurants. BBQ for sure and then anywhere that sells chicken tenders. Did I mention I eat like a kid? Anyway, eat some places and then end up playing some Top Golf. I am a horrible golfer, but I’m amazing at Top Golf. So, bring it on!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be here without Jesus. For real. After trying to take my life behind bars, I remember hearing Jesus speak so clearly to me: “You’re trying to take your life when all I really want you to do is give it to Me.” And I did. I spent time learning about this Father who loves me even though I was locked up. I learned about His mercy and grace. I learned that I still had a Calling even though my Character was tested. Our podcast is about Hope, Help, Humor. I learned about Hope while behind bars. And this is why I want to make sure on every episode we point listeners to the Hope found in Jesus.
