We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Chamberlain and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
As a jewelry designer, I draw inspiration from almost anything. Whether it’s a film, a piece of music, a simple walk in the park, or moments with my child, I believe that inspiration is everywhere. I don’t need to be constantly immersed in art museums or on a perpetual journey around the world to find it. Instead, I find beauty in the mundane, everyday experiences that surround us. The real challenge—and joy—of my work lies in discovering and pulling out these subtle, often overlooked details to create something truly inspiring. I’m always on the hunt for that next spark of creativity, always seeking and exploring, because inspiration is a never-ending journey.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
This fall at Urbane Cole, I’m exploring a new direction inspired by the movie *Beetlejuice*. While I’ve always loved working with bright, bold colors, I’m challenging myself to create pieces that are more refined, understated, and sophisticated. I’m focusing on using neutral tones, blacks, and whites, which is a new and exciting direction for me. It’s been difficult to harness my creativity in this way, but it’s a necessary step for growth, both personally and professionally.

My goal is to continue creating fun, Urbane pieces but with a more elevated feel. I’ve always been passionate about upcycling vintage jewelry, and I’m committed to maintaining that integrity in my designs moving forward. As I close out 2024 and look ahead to 2025, I’m prioritizing quality over quantity, keeping the brand exclusive to curated boutiques, online and showrooms.

I’m also excited about a recent collaboration with local Dallas artist Jennifer Christy, where we merged our design aesthetics to create unique art pieces available at urbanecole.com. This season is all about embracing change, growth, and finding a balance between my vibrant creativity and a more refined approach to design.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were to visit Fate, Texas, I’d definitely take them to Dark Rituals for coffee—it’s a must. We’d also swing by Southern Roots in Rockwall and Poe & Arrows, my favorite boutiques. While there are plenty of places to explore in the DFW area, I like to stay close to home and keep it local.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this shoutout to my husband, Jon Chamberlain. He is my rock, always supportive, and works tirelessly so that I can build, live, and breathe a creative life. I have immense respect for him, especially in business, because he truly understands the grind of creating a company from scratch and maintaining it. He’s doing just that with his own painting company, Shurz Paintz. I love him so much, and I know that I couldn’t do this without his unwavering support.
