We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Blackwell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right. – Henry Ford This quote resonates with me. I truly believe that positive thoughts lead to good outcomes and negative thoughts lead to negative results. In times where I have doubted myself, I have failed. Yet, when I believe I can, I usually do. It definitely helps having the encouragement of family and friends who push you forward when you begin to doubt yourself. The Power of Positivity has helped me grow Cocktails for Mommy’s instagram numbers to what they are today in addition to becoming a Texas REALTOR® for Ebby Halliday, REALTORS®.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Cocktails for Mommy is a place where I can showcase my love of photography and beverages. The drinks posted on Cocktails for Mommy are mainly from the DFW area, many from my favorite area restaurants. This past year has been a challenge, as I’m sure it has been for many. While we are venturing out of the house more since the start of the pandemic, we are still cautious and have cut back going out to eat tremendously. With that, the opportunity to photograph beautiful looking (and tasting) cocktails diminishes. I look forward to the day everything returns to normal. Until then, I will be perfecting my at-home cocktailing skills.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the vibe of downtown Roanoke. This historic city center has grown so much in the last few years. There are so many choices when it comes to restaurants here. Hard Eight BBQ is on my list for their brisket and jalapeno sausage. A stop at Craft & Vine Taproom & Eatery would be a must for fabulous martinis. Dessert would be next at Oak Street Pie Company for amazing fudge and a slice of pecan pie. And for walking around and exploring Roanoke’s historic downtown, coffee at Vault Coffee is a necessity. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I like to thank my husband, James, who encouraged me to start Cocktails for Mommy. His support and numerous dinner dates over the years have led to lots of cocktail photographs!
