We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalia Lucero and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natalia, what makes you happy? Why?
In terms of what makes me happy and why, creating art with my hands has always been a gateway to escape my anxiety for me growing up. Whether it’s painting, drawing, sculpting, or now making jewelry and accessories. Working with my hands makes me so happy. When I am creating I get lost in the clay it’s always fun trying to come up with the next collection. Also when my daughter occasionally decides to join me that’s the cherry on top of a sundae we always have a blast. Now if we can get my husband to learn a few tricks maybe one day LuceritoLovesClay can be a family operated business.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What I think sets me apart from other businesses is my variety in jewelry and accessories for everyone. Most have only have one type of style they do, but I have all kinds from styles, colors and textures. I also do custom orders for anyone how has a special occasion or for anyone who has a unique vision they want come to life. I love to recreate those visions for them. I put my heart and soul into every piece I do.
What I am most proud of is the ability to recreate anything anybody wants. If I don’t know how to do it I practice and perfect it until I get it right I think that’s the most fun and exciting part of what I do.
How I got to where I am today professionally, personally with hard work and determination I say anything is possible. I’ve put in many hard working hours in my work whether it’s with social media advertising, labor, editing my online store, taking photos of my work or even putting myself out there by going and attending big local events/pop-up events and socializing with the local people. It’s been a rollercoaster to be honest. Although I feel like it has been an easy transition so far only because of the people of my life that have fully supported me from the start.
The lessons I’ve learned in creating my own business is that I get to be my own boss and I get to decide how many working hours I put into it and how often I get to spend time with my family which is the most important thing in my life. With family you can overcome anything and create something beautiful like a passion turn into a business.
What I want the world to know about my brand is that passion will make your vision come true! Here at LuceritoLovesClay we thrive to do our very best so that the customer will become a life long friend. I will make sure you are fully satisfied with every jewelry piece you get!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to all the vegan restaurants in town one of my all time favorites is Belesty’s a vegan mexican restaurant located in the TCU area! I would also take them to all the fun museums in Fort Worth as well as the Fort Forth Zoo! We would checkout all the clear fork shops and go hangout down town at Sundance Square and even take a stroll at the trinity park! I would also take them down a bike ride on Magnolia Ave to have a coffee or tea at all my favorite local shops like the Grand Cru Wine and Bar!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to my husband, Gerardo for always being a loving, kind, generous man who has always been super supported of my dreams. I also want to give a shoutout to my mother, Liza and my sisters Elizabeth and Esmé they were the ones who gave me my first polymer clay kit. Without them I don’t know if I would have ever fallen in love with polymer clay or jewelry making in general.
I would also like to thank all my family and friends who have been super supportive! They were some of the first people who bought and fell in love with my handcrafted jewelry. They are the best I love them so much!
