Meet Monica Vasquez | Personal Stylist & Podcast Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Monica Vasquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monica, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want people to remember my charismatic personality. My enthusiasm for life. My passion behind anything and everything that I do. I want people to remember my happy spirit. I’ve always made a conscientious effort to make people feel better, to make people feel important, and to make people feel seen. I guess that’s why I always have a smile on my face or a joke up my sleeve. It’s been a mission of mine since I can remember, just making sure I share my happiness with people. Throwing it around like confetti I’d say.! 🙂

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a personal stylist and a podcast host. Since I was a kid I was always playing dress up and talking up a storm. I remember trying to come up with different outfits and mix matching patterns or designs for my Barbie’s and Bratz Dolls. As a little girl I would always walk into my grandma’s closet and wear her high heels and strut around the house feeling like I was on top of the world. My mom used to buy me those little plastic heels from Walmart because I just had to have them! You’d hear me walking with my little heels all over the house. Now as an adult, in my own house, you’ll hear the same (they’re just not pink plastic ones). I find joy in styling people because when you look good, you feel good. It shows! There’s nothing better than putting an outfit together for someone and them feeling so secure and happy in their own skin. What sets me apart, I would say is my passion. It’s personal. I won’t stop until you feel great! I’ve learned that my style isn’t for everyone. I understand what I envision may not be the same as my clients, and that’s okay. Adapting is crucial. Adapt to their needs and wants. Adapt to their vision. –
Being a podcast host has different challenges. Figuring out a name for the podcast, then a logo, and then finally a topic and a release date took about a year and a half. There were times where I thought maybe it was best to not release it at all. I’m glad that didn’t happen. After all that I realized you have to have an idea, a goal, and a plan. You can’t just wing it. It’s easier said than done….How hard could it be to figure out what you want to talk about, right? Sometimes, ideas don’t stick and you have to go back to your vision board and start all over. Despite that, it’s incredibly fun!! I did not know I was going to get the response I did from people. People I didn’t even know reached out to me and for that I am forever grateful. My podcast is just starting out and I know I may face other challenges in the future but I’m looking forward to overcoming them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting it would completely be in my character to have an itinerary. • Working out first. We have to earn the calories we’re going to intake while she’s visiting….well at least some of them.
• Get dressed (outfit 1)
• We’d then begin trying different coffee shops in the DFW area each day.
Taking pictures for social media with our coffee, because if you don’t take a picture then it didn’t happen.
• Then we’d go have brunch. Different day = different brunch place. We’d start with Sundown at Granada.
• After brunch, we’d go shopping of course. There’s nothing better than trying clothes on with your best friend!
• Depending on the weather, after brunch and shopping, we’d take a walk and enjoy some ice cream sandwiches at Klyde Warren Park.
• Outfit change (outfit 2)
• Go bowling and go kart riding.
Or
• Check out the different museums Dallas has.
• Dinner at XOXO Dining Room because an all pink place with your bestie is a must do!
• End the night with “Grease” or “West Side Story” (some sort of musical where we both would know EVERY WORD) popcorn, candy, and pjs.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to all the women who have supported me! My husband who’s my #1 fan, editor, camera man, manager, & love of my life. My mom who’s taught me confidence, self love, and how to be a true queen! My dad who’s taught me to be kind and always have pure intentions. My grandparents for adoring everything about me. My kids for being my motivation. Last but not least, I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my two very good friends Brianna Gonzales AKA The Social Chica, & Maria Maldonado AKA Peach Online. These two women have always supported and encouraged me! When sitting at a table with women who not only want to see you grow but help you grow… is invigorating. I am forever grateful for them and all the women I’ve met! I can’t wait to meet many more and continue building new friendships.
