We had the good fortune of connecting with Missy Magleby and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Missy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Imagine a life where you aren’t allowed to think for yourself, make your own decisions, or be ridiculed for any opinion you may have. Thats the life of just about any abiding employee. You don’t make the rules, any creative ideas you might have go unnoticed. I was tired of working so hard and being unappreciated. The life I imagined for myself would be created by my own design. My ideas of providing excellent service to my clients and/or guests, could actually come to fruition, and knowing that they are happy with the experience because of my creations, is the ultimate satisfaction.
For as long as I can remember, I have always had a leadership mindset. Not because I thought I could do it better than anyone else, but because I wanted to make a difference. Although, in some situations, I did know that I could run things better than the leadership that was given to me. Anytime I found my self in that kind of setting, it helped me better understand what NOT to do. I didn’t want to be told how to do things anymore. All of the micromanaging and toxic environments, were a hinder to my mental health and it caused me to go into a very dark place eventually. Thats when I knew I had to make a change if I wanted to be happy.
My goal in my business, is to provide exemplary service to all of my clients, and eventually build a team of professionals that I can teach and help grow so that they can build the same kind of life for themselves. Having your own company isn’t necessarily all about making money (even though that is a major plus), its about having the opportunity to help others achieve their goals. Whether its your clients/ customers, or your employees, everyone comes to you with the goal of leaving happier. Thats what I hope to provide to everyone who crosses my path in this journey.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

The journey to get to this point was not a straight and narrow path. There were many, many mountains to climb to get here. Before all of this, I had been taken advantage of by someone who took everything from me and then some. It caused me to doubt myself and my abilities, and struggle to get back up to my best self. Through numerous trials and errors with other business ventures, I finally found my way back through personal development books, podcasts, groups and communities, all working on bettering themselves and building up others. It looks years for me to change the way I think and process any obstacle that comes my way. With the help of all of these people and resources, I found my way to my happiest self.
I want everyone to know that even if you feel like you are at your lowest of lows, there is a way back up and I want to be there to help. Even if it is as simple as a self confidence matter, or a big as changing your life completely, you are not alone. My journey took me halfway across the country from California to Texas in order to figure out the way I wanted to live my life. It was the scariest thing I had ever done, but the best decision I have ever made. For that, I am grateful for all of the obstacles I had to go through because I would not be as strong as I am today, or the person I am today.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First and foremost, I would take them to the most Texan part of town, The Stockyards. I live in a suburban area that I love, but Fort Worth I would say has the most Texas culture to it. Billy Bobs would be a must! Nothing better than throwing on some cowboy boots and dancing the night away. Although, you can’t come to Texas and not have some real Texas BBQ. Hutchins would be at the top of the list. Of course you have to take them to check out a Buc-cee’s because ain’t no other gas station like it! I have actually done my Christmas shopping there. If it’s the summertime, I would go out to the lake and rent a boat or jet ski’s for the day and just sunbathe. Every evening I would want to go find a patio somewhere for some wine or margaritas to finish the day. Places such as DiDi’s Downtown in Frisco or 8-eleven where they have live music to watch and listen to.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family members are my biggest supporters. Throughout my twenties, I struggled a lot with mental health, and being taken advantage of financially. If it wasn’t for every one of them being there for me, I am not sure I would be here today. They helped me overcome all of the struggles I dealt with, and taught me how to do better for myself. I am thankful that they stuck with me and provided me with all the tough love I needed.
