We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mike, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought behind starting Lighthouse Recovery was that I had worked for other people in the field for years – and every day – I was thinking about how it could be done better.

I believed love, patience, and tolerance could coexist with accountability and support.

I felt that I didn’t have an option – that if I wanted to share my treatment philosophy with others – the only way to do it was to start my own business.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My partner and I started Lighthouse to re-invent what we thought Addiction Treatment could be – both philosophically and operationally. We are a client-driven organization. Our mission was and always will be – to act in the client’s and the family’s best interest.

Starting any business will be tough – there will be unforeseen challenges every week. But we’re in the business of solving problems. And we’re very good at solving problems.

Our team, culture, and philosophy set us apart from other Addiction Treatment Centers. We are nationally recognized for the programs we provide – Outpatient Clinical Services and Extended Care Treatment. We invest heavily in our team and provide ample support to everyone who comes through our doors. Our philosophy has been built over decades of combined experience and every component of our programming has been designed in-house.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A few of us at Lighthouse enjoy fly-fishing, and there are a few spots hidden around Dallas where you feel like you’re in the Hill Country of Texas. Quiet, secluded, and peaceful.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to the team at Lighthouse Recovery. As someone who has worked in the field for years – I’m humbled to work with true professionals and see their impact on the lives of so many.

As for books, I’m a big fan of “Principles” by Ray Dalio. The concepts of “continuous improvement” and “radical transparency” draw many parallels to the work we do at Lighthouse.
