We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Pasvar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Work/ life balance for me is something that is super important. I have a young family and spending time with them is extremely important to me. Trying to juggle my day job, comedy , my podcast, and time with my family can be challenging at sometimes. Over time I have became a lot better and scheduling my time to make sure that I have time for everything.
Balance in life is super important. Setting boundaries for everything that you do in life is the best way to make sure that you aren’t stretched too thin.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being a comic is something I have wanted to be since I was a kid. I am most proud of the fact that I have been able to do this while still being able to be around for my family.
Anything that is worth doing anything in life is going to have challenges. In comedy you have tons of challenges. Traveling a long distance for little to no pay at the beginning, playing shows in odd places like storage units, and just normal bumps and bruises along the way. The only way to overcome these challenges is to just keep doing shows over and over again.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Im so old. I have no idea what is cool anymore. The idea of staying out past around 11 pm makes me extremely tired.
However, if one of my friends came in town, we would probably hit up Blackfin, then Dukes, then maybe flying saucer… wait this isn’t 2008.
We would probably hit up a local brewery and just kick it, telling stories from back in our day.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout-out to my college theatre professor, Ray Newton. He always challenge me to work the hardest at what I was doing, and me realize that I could truly pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
Also a shoutout to my family. They put up with a tired dad/husband on many days, so I can go and live this dream.
