We had the good fortune of connecting with Mianca Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mianca, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Expanding my vision, continuously learning new skills, connecting with positive people, and not being afraid to make mistakes were all powerful habits that helped me succeed. When I studied the art of success, yes, it’s an art; I understood I had to think bigger. I needed to expand my normal vision. When I got comfortable with the thought, feeling, and idea that I could do more, I did precisely that. I started to teach myself and learned new things. I studied and applied whatever I needed to become more successful and better at my crafts. As I gained more knowledge, I met new and exciting people working toward the lifestyle and goals I was working to achieve. I became more confident when I connected with positive and successful people and learned from them firsthand. I stopped living in a shell and started mastering my mistakes. Mastering mistakes means not being afraid to try new things and fail. That’s right, I said it – fail. You won’t find an inspiring success story without a fair share of failures being a part of it, including yours. You will fail more times than you succeed, not always, but it’s a possibility, so it is best you master your mistakes and never give up!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

I am a first-generation self-published author, poet, and phenomenal writer. I love artistry! Speaking and wiring artistically comes easily to me and has been ever since I was younger. I first learned my creative skills in high school. I started drawing and realized I was good at it, just like my mother and grandmother. I wrote music and danced. I then started writing poems in my spare time. When I read my poems and stories to others, they were amazed and couldn’t believe how influential and eloquent I was. That’s when I realized I had a powerful gift – artistry!

When I became an adult, I decided to write my first self-published book, Receiving Your Healing, in 2020. Receiving Your Healing describes my life story and is a testament to overcoming sexual abuse, trauma, and much more. Self-publishing my first book was difficult. I first had to be fearless to share my story without shame or guilt. Many things I wrote about were not so favorable and were secrets I didn’t want to reveal about myself. However, I wanted others who suffered childhood trauma to know they are not alone and do not have to feel ashamed about their past. That notion and thought motivated me to push through my fears and go forward with sharing my story. Another challenge I faced was that I did not know anyone personally who wrote a book, so I had to figure it out myself. After almost four years of writing, contemplating, and researching, I finally finished and learned how to self-publish my book. It was both a beautiful and painful experience at the same time. I was happy that I stuck it out and saw it through. I was beyond proud of myself. I was so excited about self-publishing the first book that I did not stop there.

I went on to support my daughter in becoming a second-generation self-published author at the tender age of ten. In May of 2022, on my daughter’s tenth birthday, she published her first book, Virtual Learning. Virtual Learning is a children’s book about my daughter’s exciting and jazzy experience attending school online during a pandemic. Virtual Learning is a coloring book as well. Children can enjoy coloring along with reading at the same time. A two-for-one special! Receiving Your Healing and Virtual Learning by my daughter Nashiy Price can be purchased online directly from my website: www.miancawright.com, Amazon, or Branes and Noble.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

My hobbies for fun consist of getting pampered, shopping, and grabbing a bite to eat. I love tacos, and my top taco restaurant of choice is Torchy’s. It’s always quick and fresh. I can count on Torchy’s because it’s a fun and inviting environment. Torchy’s is the perfect place for drinks and a good time to entertain guests.

I enjoy shopping in the DFW area. Grapevine Mills Mall is my favorite mall. I would take my best friend to Grapevine Mills Malls to get a Mani and Pedi, blow off steam at the arcade, and then shop until we drop around the mall and end the day with eating some good ol’ Torchy’s tacos! The traffic around Grapevine Mills Mall is a buzzkill, but the shopping and entertainment within the area makes the traffic so worth the stretch.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I thank God for all the talents and gifts I’ve been graced with and entrusted to use to inspire and bring encouragement to our beautiful world! I thank my mother for watering my heart to be the gentle and sweet essence I am. I give thanks to my father for always speaking life in me and motivating me to be brave. Last but not least, I want to shoutout my daughter for being the coolest kid ever and always keeping mommy on her toes. Nashiy, you are the driving force behind my excellence! Mommy loves you so much. You were sent here to shine, Babygirl. Never dim your light!
