We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Robbins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melissa, how do you define success?
To me success and life happiness is yours for the choosing. It is your own attitude and state of mind. It cannot be defined by anyone else. I have always had a WHY for what I do that pushes me every day to reach certain goals to reach my personal definition of success. It encourages me to be a better individual and business owner. My business has allowed me to bring happiness and joy to many people for many different celebrations. If I can bring happiness or a smile to someone on their special day that passes on to others then my goal has been accomplished. Every day after school I ask my son “What did you do to be kind to someone today?” He knows that every day I will ask him this same question. As a result he goes through each day with the intention to be kind. I once read a quote that has always stuck with me that states “Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.” -John Wooden If I can spread joy and happiness to my clients while teaching my children good morals and how to be kind then I know I have reached success because everything comes back full circle.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Owning a couple of different businesses has been extremely challenging at times. I work 7 days a week and have such amazing support from my family and friends. I make sure I spend quality time with my kids each and every day! Being a business owner has blessed me with being able to set my own schedule and focus on my top priorities while investing in my career and family. I hope that my brand encourages everyone to bring happiness and meaning to everyone that they come in contact with. I invested in opening a venue and had my grand opening day picked out the same week when COVID-19 shut down the world. It has been a daily battle ever since with social distancing put in place for me to offer a place for people to celebrate in or to even be able to decorate for their special occasion. We have had to be a little creative with drive by birthday parties and decor! There is always a solution if you dig deep enough. I live in Wichita Falls, TX where the community has been so overwhelmingly generous and very supportive to local businesses and for that I am so grateful!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Where to start! One of my favorite places is Drink and Clink owned by Brenna Pohlod. She offers the most incredible drinks, cakes, snacks, and much more! If you are wanting to get out and enjoy some relaxing family time on the water Good Times Adventures Texas has a great boat rental company for you to enjoy along with tubing and water skiing! Hotworx of Wichita Falls and Fulton’s Fit Factory are great gyms to workout at and burn those extra calories off! Then end the day at Jordan Craft BBQ with friends and family to enjoy some awesome food and music.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother Tammy Martinez has been the biggest role model in my life. She plays such an important role in not only my life but the lives of the people in her community. She is a Real Estate Broker, VP of a bank, and has started an amazing non profit that has helped many individuals in her home town of Quanah, TX. I love and admire her so much!
