We had the good fortune of connecting with Meghan Waldrop and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meghan, what do you attribute your success to?
I treat everyone as family! I put myself in their shoes and make sure I give them exactly what they want done to their hair. Whether it is a specific style, cut or color, I always talk through a super in depth consultation to really figure out what they want as their end result.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Along with my wedding business, I do work behind the chair at The Hair Show in Keller, Texas. I specialize in color and blonding services, as well as cutting and styling hair. The one thing that I believe makes me stand out as a stylist are my customer service skills. I set my availability to where it is very easy to get in for hair services. I understand that people have hectic schedules, so I try my best to make myself convenient to them. I have been told I am old school when it comes to my business, but I believe that those old school practices of kindness, compassion, friendliness, and some good old southern hospitality are what sets me apart from others.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the DFW area! There are so many neat places around this area. If I had a friend come and visit me, I would definitely have to take them around to check out the normal places we are known for. I am a huge Texas history buff, so some of the traditional places such as the JFK memorial area and the Stockyards would be first on our list. I would have to take them to Maria Cucas in Keller, my favorite restaurant, to share their delicious beef fajita quesadillas with chips and salsa, of course. Next on our trip, we would head out to Lake Grapevine to do a little fishing. I am a country girl at heart and fishing is my favorite thing to do! Growing up, my grandparents lived in Grapevine, so we were always out on the lake. It is so beautiful and peaceful out there. Up next, a night time trip to the Water Gardens in downtown Fort Worth. I would end the night out with a trip to Cowboys Red River to show them what a real Texas dance hall is like.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My number one driver in my success is definitely my 13 year old son, Aiden. I love to be able to show him that with dedication and hard work, anything is possible. I love what I do, so it really isn’t work at all. Of course I owe a big deal of my success to my whole family and friends, but I also owe it to my past cosmetology schools, Seguin Beauty School and Ogle School of Hair, Skin and Nails, my amazing instructors and former students, my clientele, and all of my former colleagues.
