We had the good fortune of connecting with Meagan Moshpit and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meagan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I started MoshPit Entertainment it came purely from wanting to represent and support my friends. I loved music and had been going to shows and hanging with my band friends for years and had always been doing different forms of promotion already. Just to help wherever I could. I even did promo for other friends who had promo companies like My girlfriend Barbie of Black Tooth US management. I remember just always wanting to do as much as I could to help and get involved. So I decided to start my own company to do that.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Currently what sets me aside is that I am only doing one show a year right now. Once a year I find a venue on the Brazos River and throw a River Festival. The Hillbilly Throwdown. It is all original artists generally the genres rang from Rock, Blues, County and Red Dirt. It’s an all day festival riverside with vendors and camping and it usually happens in May before it gets to hot.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The friends who originally inspired me to start MoshPit Entertainment unfortunately are no longer with us but have gone to be with the lord. The Sisk Brothers, Jeremy and Christopher Sisk. I spent a lot of my pre adult years in jam rooms with them and wanting to support them sparked my fire originally probably. So shout out to remaining members of Skard Soul. Also shout out to all the people who used to practice at the old West Side Jamroom. My friend Donavan Warren who is also no longer with us. Members of Four Days to Burn, and Wesley from the Ridgley Theater RIP. She was loved by all of us. One of my best friends ever Bryan Mccormick who always supported and encouraged me when I first started. Rustin Luther who always encouraged me to keep putting new shows together and alwayslet me book Tomcats West. As for my living support and mentorship I have to say Michael Smith aka Mongo of Hillbilly Orchestra who I named my River Festival after has always been there to guide me, teach me and encourage me. I have the greatest respect for him andwe have done many great shows together. Warren Garza who I also love and have huge respect for. Charlie Redding, Justin Jackson, Ricky and Jerry Warden, David Jarvis, Bruce Corbitt, Scott Sevall, Jo Beth, Butch Waltman, Barbi Chapman and many others as well as all the bands I have ever worked with. Especially those who have worked with me time and again and all the music fans like myself who come out and support.
