We had the good fortune of connecting with Matt Macek and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matt, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor for our success at Plaid Fox Resale is to provide an opportunity for customers to sell their pre-loved clothing and make some additional income for their household while intern recycling product that would have most likely ended up in the landfill. The average person throws away 81lbs of clothing in a calendar year. We help reduce that footprint by allowing someone else to purchase the product and keep it from being thrown away. We also give customers the opportunity to purchase quality used product at reduced price by allowing the customers to price their own product as well as mark it down Thursday’s and Friday’s in the store.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I worked in Franchising for years and this is the first time I actually took the “leap” to be part of owning something. What sets us apart from other businesses is that we are a unique concept that is now in the US brought over from Australia and Finland. We help people recycle their closets by giving them space to sell their product for a nominal fee and only taking a small percentage of their sales so they can recoup some of their investment into their wardrobe. Our brand is unique because we return great pre loved product to a new customer base giving the seller some value in cash for selling it. We also give the new product purchaser a great deal on product they may not have been able to afford a full price.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them downtown Mckinney. I would start at the Celt for a drink and an appetizer and then go Cadillac Pizza for Dinner. I would then finish up the night by stopping by Tupps Brewery in downtown. It is a unique set up with a great tasting menu. The downtown area of Mckinney has so many great spots including Harvest if you want an upscale dinner in a great setting.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would definitely dedicate this shoutout to three separate people. The first being my wife, my rock, my support system who has been instrumental in helping me realize the full potential of starting this concept and helped me as a co-founder as well. The next two are Chuck and Catherine Bracken, they have been friends for years and always been a support mechanism for me personally and professionally. They are the founders of the business concept and are also driven to help this brand succeed. I cannot thank them enough for the support and guidance through this journey.
