Meet Marie Temomo | Founder & Event Planner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marie Temomo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Initially, I built The Tasty Picnic to help me pay for my college tuition, little did I know, it was so much more to me than that. At that point in my life, I did not truly understand the importance of building strong relationships with people, which today is the driving force of my business.
After hosting just a few picnics a couple months into business, I felt overwhelmed. I told myself it was too hard and thought about giving up. There were seasons when I wanted to scrap it all because I wasn’t seeing the results I hoped for. Fortunately, as I grew over the years — not just as a business owner, but as a person — my perspective shifted. Life began to teach me what truly matters: God, myself, and others. I realize now, that I was taking the wrong approach to it. I was focused on what I needed, instead of how I could serve. After some serious self-development, I began asking myself a new question: How can I serve people and please God?
That’s when everything changed.
The Tasty Picnic isn’t just about me anymore. It’s about you — my clients, my community, and the people I’m blessed to serve. Each luxury picnic experience is thoughtfully curated with intention creating space for connection, celebration, and rest.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Founded in 2021, The Tasty Picnic is a luxury picnic and event planning company rooted in purpose, creativity, and intentionality. We specialize in curating elevated picnic experiences for all types of occasions—from self care dates and intimate date nights to birthday celebrations. But beyond the aesthetic and luxury touches, our vision runs deeper: to create meaningful spaces where people can slow down and enjoy the simple things in life—nature, food, and genuine connection.
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to become consumed by the hustle—so much so that we often neglect the most important parts of our lives: our relationships with loved ones, with ourselves, and with God. The Tasty Picnic serves as a gentle reminder to make time for what truly matters. Whether it’s through our Personal Picnic experience or our special “Picnic with Jesus” invitation. Our mission is to provide more than just a beautiful setting—we aim to spark real connection and intentional rest.
What truly sets us apart is our heart for people. We care deeply about well-being, not just event design. We’ve learned that while luxury adds a beautiful touch, it’s the presence of loved ones and the peace of nature that make moments unforgettable. In fact, studies show that spending time outdoors boosts mental and emotional health—something we encourage and incorporate into every experience we create.
Outside of The Tasty Picnic, I’m currently pursuing a degree in Business Analytics at East Texas A&M University and am on track to graduate this fall! I also work full-time in IT at a corporate law firm. My career journey began when I stepped into my first role as a Junior Data Analyst at 21. These professional experiences have equipped me with skills that I now actively apply to my business, from data-driven decision making to strategic planning. It’s been rewarding to bridge the gap between what I’m learning in school and how I serve clients through The Tasty Picnic. Ultimately, I plan to pursue a career in Business Analytics once I graduate. My dream is to use my skills to help small business succeed.
There are still a lot of lessons I am learning as a young entrepreneur. But one lesson that’s remained constant is the importance of integrity and doing things the right way. I strive to serve every client as if I were serving Christ Himself—with excellence, compassion, and care. That’s not something I take lightly. I challenge myself daily to better understand my clients’ needs and grow in knowledge so that I can operate in a way that honors God and uplifts others. The road hasn’t been easy, but I’m learning to run this race with patience and faith—knowing that everything I do is part of a bigger picture. The Tasty Picnic is more than a picnic, its a movement.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d kick things off with sunset views at Trinity Overlook Park followed by rooftop dinner at The Henry and late-night ice cream from Van Leeuwen. Then the next day, we’d spend a full day exploring downtown Dallas—starting with breakfast at Overeasy, a visit to the Dallas Museum of Art and Nasher Sculpture Center, tapas at Si Tapas, and skyline cocktails at Reunion Tower. I would also plan a day to stroll through Bishop Arts, shop local boutiques, grab coffee at La Reunion, and unwind with dinner at Paradiso. Midweek, we’d head to Fort Worth to explore the Stockyards, grab a patio lunch at Joe T. Garcia’s, visit the Modern Art Museum, and enjoy dinner at Reata.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
One book that has profoundly shaped who I am today is the Bible. It has not only guided my personal growth but has also been a cornerstone in my journey as an entrepreneur. Through its wisdom, I’ve found encouragement, strength, support and most importantly, love. On my journey to building The Tasty Picnic, I came across many challenges and setbacks that I never thought I would go through. But looking back, I see how every obstacle revealed just how resilient I truly am. Those moments reminded me that He who is in me is greater than he who is in the world. It was as if the Bible came alive before my eyes—its principles resonating through every business decision, every hardship, and every breakthrough that I experienced.
That foundation was built early in my life. I grew up in a home where the Bible wasn’t just read—it was lived. My parents modeled what it meant to walk with God through both the triumphs and the trials. The values they instilled in me—integrity, humility, and faith—have become the guiding principles behind every personal and professional decision I make. I want to give a heartfelt shoutout to them for their prayers and their love. I thank God every day for the gift of having two incredible individuals to walk this journey with me.
