We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria Sancic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maria, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting a business always begins with a need for something more. I found myself in 2016 as a single mother with a need for a second income. So, I picked up a camera. This quickly evolved into something bigger and after I met my husband and we were expecting – We needed a source of income that gave me the flexibility to be home more often than not. Growing this business became my main professional focus and through this process my love for marketing was born.

Because of my photography, music and creative business coaching I developed “Gypsylady Creative Co.” I had branded myself successfully on social media as “Gypsylady Maria” so I knew this combination was a great move.

I think every entrepreneur knows in there heart that there is something bigger out there! When you make those thoughts a reality and you make moves on your visions, amazing things happen!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
After 5 years of running a photography business I was introduced into the Western Fashion world by a friend and fellow business owner. Her need for branding photography opened a door to so many new passions! Working with well known brands is something I am very proud of. There is nothing more profound than seeing brands use your images and visions to bring their own success.

There were so many challenges to overcome in such a saturated industry. How to stand out? How to not get caught up in the copy cat ways? How to remain original and keep a very busy business full of passion and zero burn out? These are all things I found out the hard way! But experience, I feel, is the only way to continue getting better. For me, becoming burnt out was the biggest mountain to climb over. I love my work so much that it is easy to get over excited and over booked. I learned that family and myself need to come first.

One thing I live by is the fact that God gave you so many talents for a reason. He gave you passions, likes and dislikes. Using them to provide for your family and to serve others is ultimately the most satisfying thing to achieve. If I can do it, you can to. No matter what your talents may be.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So many people have nothing to say about Ohio but that’s because they have not been to Magnolia! My sweet little community is the same as when I grew up. There is nothing like summertime on the family farm. The rolling hills will steal your heart. For a night out, we enjoy stopping at Creekside Cottage Winery down the road. I sing here occasionally for fun! Next stop would be one of the many local dive bars that inspire so many of the songs I write.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have so many people to credit for the connection to success I believe I have achieved. My in-laws are very successful business owners and they have taught me so much on every level of running a business.

But when I break that down I have to ask the question “Where did these people come from?” What did I do to attract such amazing, influential people into my life? And for that I credit the time I gave myself to learn how to train my thoughts and actions to default to positivity. Who you attract is who you are. After reading the book “The Secret” by Ronda Byrne I found myself completely confident with facing an extremely negative world with the utmost positive outlook. I watched my life transform!

As the years continued I found myself managing my own, very success business. My financial life took a great turn and all of my goals had a clear path of success before them.
