We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria Castle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maria, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
The definition of risk taking says “the act or fact of doing something that involves danger or risk in order to achieve a goal”. I feel all of life’s most successful and favorable accomplishments are the result of taking risks. Of course you must take time to plan and research all of the necessary details in preparation of manifesting. Without a plan you could end up in the possible outcome of being in the “danger zone” of the risks made. They say “Good things come to those who wait”, so never rush into something if you want it to last. For every risk I took, I made sure to have a plan, never give up, have faith and believe my goals have already been accomplished.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
There is so much true beauty in a person whether their hair, makeup, or nails are done or not. I see so much beauty before I begin a transformation to enhance what they already have. To make them feel even more gorgeous! I absolutely love the outcome of how clients feel after my services. You can make anyone look good, but I care most about how they feel, how I helped with building their confidence, or by simply putting a smile on their face. I am most excited to see where this journey will lead me, the people I will meet, the places I will go and the lives I will change through beauty! I would have never thought I would be in Texas studying Cosmetology and training under so many great Hair Stylists. I made it this far by simply taking risks and working nonstop. My most valuable lesson was learning how to take a break mentally and physically. The main goal was to always get something done, practice skills and techniques, stay up late reading or just write down ideas. I am now learning all of those things will get accomplished but everything works smoothly when you are well rested and just take time out for self care. It has always been my main priority to make sure I work hard on manifesting all of my heart’s desires because no one can live out my dreams but Me, Maria Maria!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I really don’t go out much or have the time to explore Texas but I do know there are lots of great coffee shops and so many places to go shopping!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have the longest list of the people in my life, organizations, mentors, and the books I’ve read during this journey but I’ll sum it up and keep it short and sweet! First I want to thank my family in Michigan for their love and support. Next, I want to give recognition to Salon Boutique Academy. Attending school there has been such an amazing experience, from the diversity of the curriculum, to the inspiration and motivation poured into the students in becoming successful in the beauty industry. Thank you to my instructors Ms.Sanchez, Ms.Sophie and staff for pouring their wisdom, knowledge, techniques and inspiration within me during the preparation of becoming a Cosmetologist. I also want to shine lots of light towards Modern Luxe Salon. I’ve been a part of their team since last September, surrounded by the best Hair Stylists in Frisco. While still in school I managed to dedicate my weekends and every Monday training under Owner and Master Stylist Tara Hunsicker, learning new skills and techniques from both Tara along with Master Stylist Karissa Green, and also assisting many Hair Stylists in the salon. Huge thank you to Modern Luxe Salon for accepting me into their Protege/Apprenticeship Program, the amazing mentorship received while beginning my journey in the beauty industry and also molding me into the Hairstylist I am today!
