We had the good fortune of connecting with manuel urueta-borunda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi manuel, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
art makes me happy

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I do paper mache creatures and masks 🙂 , i am very excited about life and death. Working on what I love got me to where I am now, everything is easy with your mind set. Challenges help you grow and pop your bubble. Keep following your dream is the best lesson I’ve learned, i just want more paper mache artists in the world as part of my legacy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Café con leche, zephyr contemporary , cinema studios, cult studios, elemi or taconeta, a walk downtown, old sheepdog brewery, Aztec cave, viejo coffee, mural tour around the city, monarch bar.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Barbara antebi and her amazing teachings taught me paper mache in high school and I felt In love with the medium
Pedro Linares and Manuel Jiménez with their amazing legacy and creatures
