We had the good fortune of connecting with Mandy Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mandy, what matters most to you?
The value that matters most to me is keeping God first. I’ve learned that my success professionally depends on more than simply creating eye-catching bracelets. It means staying connected to God, and knowing that overworking myself is not what He wants from me. That does not mean that I cannot or will not work hard, it means that I am conscious of the fact that there is only so much planning and execution I can do my on my own. Beyond that, I trust God to handle the rest.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I create beaded bracelets using natural stones, and one of a kind quote charms. I am most proud about the quality of my work. I began creating bracelets because I wanted accessories that I knew no one else would have. I have always wanted to be set apart and I knew that by creating bracelets for myself, with my own designs, from everyday inspiration, I couldn’t go wrong.

The journey of jewelry making wasn’t always easy. There were times I’d come across supplies that were beautiful, but they did not meet the quality standard I so many times I had to pass up things that would look nice for a moment, but would not last long term. I also struggled with the back-end of business management. I had to learn that owning a business was more than making jewelry, I also had to ensure the business was run properly, legally secure, and financially stable.

Lastly, consistency was a difficult challenge to overcome because I learned creativity comes and goes for me. There were times I’d have never-ending ideas and I would quickly execute them. Then there would be times I didn’t push myself to create because I didn’t “feel” it. I’ve learned that in order to overcome this obstacle I had to be intentional about setting goals, writing down creative ideas, and treating my business as a priority, otherwise, I would not experience the outcome I desired.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting Dallas one of the first places I’d take them is The SYD Factory. They have amazing sweets, and it’s owned by one of my best friends. I’d also purchase tickets for Six Flags, make room to visit The Hideaway in North Dallas, The Crab Station on Walnut Hill, purchase tickets for the Arboretum, visit Kylde Warren park in Downtown Dallas, and of course, end it off with Sunday morning worship at The Star Baptist Fellowship in Pleasant Grove.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Everyone around me is amazing, One of my best friends, Fatima “Sydnee” launched her business, The SYD Factory, a few years before I launched mine. She has been extremely supportive, and an essential part of my growth. She always provides helpful tips she’s learned along the way, and let’s me know when I’m doing something right. She encouraged me to believe in myself, and my business, and really became one of my biggest cheerleaders at a time when I needed it the most.

Additionally, my customers, and my sister are an important part of my story as well. When I first began creating bracelets I was nervous to put my products out there but my customers, and my sister have always reassured me that I create jewelry that is worth buying.

Last, but certainly not least, God is important. I pray daily, and the more I began asking for helping with certain aspects of my business, the more I began to see His hand with solving problems I didn’t realize I had.
