We had the good fortune of connecting with Malcolm Greer & Anthony Simon Owners | Dallas Slingshot Rental and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Malcolm Greer & Anthony Simon, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
The mission of Dallas Slingshot Rental is to grow and support the local Polaris Slingshot community by bringing awareness, rentals, and memorable excursions. We continuously work to help our community by emphasizing the necessity of outdoor activity and exploration across North Texas. By renting the 3-wheeled Slingshot motorcycle we have uncovered a unique & effective way to promote and drive local tourism. Our curated adventures not only highlight Dallas-Fort Worth’s major attractions but small businesses & cultural experiences in the area. By partnering with local businesses, we can convert our valued riders into patrons of those establishments to help boost revenue and social engagement. We love the fact that we have an opportunity to drive tourists and attention to DFW’s favorite eateries, shops, and hot spots. One of Dallas Slingshot Rental’s key features is our large fleet which allows us to accommodate any group rental, special occasion, or business request. Together we have put a great deal of thought toward reimagining what it means to think and shop locally.

What should our readers know about your business?
It wasn’t an easy process bringing Polaris Adventures to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. We had to make significant time and personal investments to make Dallas Slingshot Rental come alive. After keeping it under wraps for months, we are very proud to announce the opening of this unique attraction in the place we were born and raised. Our Slingshot riders will experience open-air freedom while feeling secure in its sports car-like feel. We carry only the top-of-the-line automatic & manual Slingshot options in inventory. We offer incredible value in each of our rentals. Guests have the option to select curated adventures & themed experiences that take them across North Texas. Each ride is covered by our industry-leading insurance policy which offers premium protection for our customers. You will also enjoy unlimited mileage and no proximity restriction on any adventure you choose. Dallas Slingshot Rental is the only Slingshot rental company in DFW that can offer you this amount of value! Our Slingshot inventory has seat belts, touchscreen turn-by-turn navigation, plenty of lockable storage, a radio, & Bluetooth/USB connectivity. The seating is comfortable and adjustable with a waterproof interior.

Trust us when we say, you will be the center of attention wherever you go! Our plan is to utilize Slingshot’s open & innovative design to encourage an exciting, and immersive experience while exploring what makes D-FW a top destination. The Polaris Slingshot is not new, but the numbers show that North Texans are unfamiliar with the 3-wheeled roadster. Dallas Slingshot Rental plans to change this by operating the largest rental fleet of new Slingshots in North Texas as Polaris Adventure Outfitters.

You hear that you shouldn’t mix family and business because being family, may present unique challenges in your business. So what’s interesting is that Anthony and I are in fact, cousins. From life experience, we can attest that there is some truth in that statement. We joke about how great things have come together because we are family. The first thing people do is raise an eyebrow and say, “Oh, how’s that working out…?” And not in a good way. A major reason for our recent success is staying conscious of those challenges and maintaining an open line of communication. We speak candidly and keep in mind that anything we say or do has good intentions and is intended to make us successful. We take our roles seriously, step in to help, or cover for one another without asking and in a genuine way. It’s very important to be mindful of your strengths, possible weaknesses, and differences in order to have each other’s back.

When Anthony and I had our first conversation about working together we were both in a season of searching. The idea of creating something new, exciting, and of course lucrative was on both of our minds. We first started working on the Simon’s Fireworks brand in Houston. With that success, we knew we had to keep creating businesses that brought us joy and excitement. During the fireworks season, Anthony introduced me to the Polaris Slingshot; A three-wheeled motorcycle. Just a month after seeing one for the first time, I bought my own, drove to Houston, and pulled up on my Cousin! The drive to Houston was exhilarating to say the least. I was full of joy and all I could think about was how happy I was on the open road. My cousin and I spent the entire weekend driving around Houston, sometimes randomly finding and riding with other Slingshot owners. We sat down that night and we really just talked about what we could possibly do in Dallas. Now, If you know Anthony, then you know how resourceful he is. He knows something about everything and is a networking aficionado. That next day we stopped at Houston Slingshot Rental where the owner Matt was nice enough to give us a little insight into the business. His operation is top notch and he was very gracious in talking to us. At one point during the tour, I turned to my cousin and said, “Hey, we could do this.” He turned back to me kind of chuckled and said, “Cousin, I know that’s why we’re here.” I think we’d both say it was around that time we decided to share the Slingshot experience with our friends and family in Dallas-Fort Worth. Shortly after, two Slingshots turned into three, and three became Dallas Slingshot Rental.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Anthony: I am thankful for my Grandparents Gus & Helen Simon for helping raise me and giving me guidance and love throughout my life. I want to give a rose to my mother Tracy York for always standing beside me. A big should out to my Uncle Gus “Nene” Simon for showing me how to get up early, work hard, and be a great man. I want to recognize my friend Will Jackson for coaching me on the business aspects of developing Simon’s Lawn Service into Man-I-Cure Landscaping & Lawn.

Malcolm: I definitely want to give my roses to my Mother & Father, Carolyn & Larry. They certainly set the scene for our family to be successful and full of love. I am also thankful to my fiance, Dominique, who has been there every step of the way encouraging me and supporting my vision. My big brother Fredrick has always been a role model in my life as I watched him excel in sports, school, family life, and his career. I appreciate my good friend Keneth Reaves who I’ve looked up to from day one. I want to recognize my cousin Alton Griffin who inspires me to go after my dreams. I’d like to thank the Brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi, especially Rho members Paul Abron, Ron Atkinson, and Ben Vann for their council over the years.

Together we want to thank the founders of Christian Heights Community Care. For over 25 years My Mother & Father, Anthony’s Grandparents, our Aunts, Uncles, and family friends set an example of what family could do if they worked together. Thank you Jarrod York at Gorilla Gym in Arlington, Tx for his support. A big thank you to our friend “Slingshot” Matt at Houston Slingshot Rental for believing in us and supporting our vision. Most importantly we are proud of each other. Proud that we overcame any adversity in our lives and positioned ourselves to make this happen for ourselves and our families.
