We had the good fortune of connecting with Maha Malhotra and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maha, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to be that of a cultural curator. Over the past twelve years of working with various organizations & communities, I am proud to say I’ve always left the people I’ve met and places I’ve gone with a bright new perspective on life. Wherever my life’s journey has taken me, from hospitality to finance to sales/marketing, I seem to have a lasting impact on those around me. From implementing standards and procedures into day to day activities to simply lending a listening ear, I’ve come to the realization, these are the things people remember me by. I want to be remembered for my empathy, my desire to help and motivate, and the way I lead! I always told myself one day, when I became a boss aka “BAWSE” I would continue to create safe, healthy, and inspirational environments for those around me.
What should our readers know about your business?
What I am most proud of is the fact that I, Maha, am doing the things I said I would. I, Maha, am accomplishing goals set not only for myself, but for my loved ones. I am most proud of having the courage to step away from what some would call “Corporate Handcuffs”. Although I would not be the person I am today without having experience in various facets of the corporate world, I display daily gratitude for being able to step away and start my own legacy. Having had the exposure to various businesses and how they ran, I had the opportunity learn, not only what niche business I wanted to start, but how (and how NOT ) to successfully run it. I’ve gotten to where I am today with my fierce commitment to break generational curses and of course with the encouragement of my loved ones, colleagues, and even perfect strangers! One lesson I’ve learned along the way is that although it is possible to accomplish all your desires alone, it is pertinent to step out of your comfort zone and ask for help! I have always been an extroverted character, however when it came to my business, at times I would find myself too scared/embarrassed to promote/ask for help. Once I got over that fear, the amount of support and resources that started flowing in, were remarkable. There are so many resources, especially here in the DFW to assist in every aspect of entrepreneurship. One that I highly recommend is your local Small Business Association. They are a wonderful helping hand. I want the world to know I am in the business of helping people, not judging people. I hold myself and those around to me to an elevated standard and know when it’s time to turn up the heat or wind down. I want the world to know that asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of courage. I want the world to know that I am more than a “Cleaning Lady”. I am my own superhero.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestie was coming to visit, I would have to take her to at least one sporting event. Ever since I moved to Dallas, getting involved in sports almost seemed inevitable. I would definitely take her to a Rangers Game at Globe Life Field. I would also take her to some of the best restaurants around! In my opinion one of the BEST Pakistani/Indian Cuisines is at Delhi6 Indian Kitchen & Bar in Highland Village. They have wonderful/authentic food ranging from all levels of spices and amazing staff. For Tacos, I would highly recommend any location for Salsa Verde. Their tacos de tripa dorada are my personal favorites. They are open late as well for our night owl friends. Naturally, we would visit reunion tower for the spectacular view of the city. We would go on a weekend walk at Klyde Warren Park, where we would indulge in the variety of food truck options and get some cute photos too. For a night out, we would hit up La Santa Cocktails and Nightlife. The owner is always is always happy to make specialty cocktails and chat it up. For an outdoors experience, I would have to take my best friend to the Fort Worth Stock Yards. Weather it be a day trip, to see the bulls and learn some history, or at night to grab some delicious drinks and bites, you cannot go wrong with this infamous experience. Along the way, I would introduce her to all the amazing people I’ve met along the way as well. Last, but not least, I would take her on a tour of the Historic District in Downtown Dallas.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely want to thank the multitalented, Tiara Smith. Tiara is a DFW local realtor (Tiara Has the Key) who, although we’ve only ever met virtually, has supported my business in so many different ways and I could not be more grateful. She even gave me some advice and encouragement for this article!
I also want to give a special shoutout to my brilliant photographer and friend, Liberty Barrientez. In June of 2021, my husband and I migrated from NC to Dallas, TX in search of a better life for ourselves and our families. We met Liberty at a direct marketing job. We quickly learned how multitalented and hard working she was. From then on I began utilizing Liberty’s photography services for any professional/personal photoshoots. Shoutout to Jonz Photography!!
