We had the good fortune of connecting with Lyna Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lyna, what’s your definition for success?
Success is achieving the goal you set in the beginning of your journey.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I thought about starting a lash business I was so excited until I took my first class. After I realized what all went into lashing, such as supplies, technique, skill, I immediately became overwhelmed. No amount of research could’ve prepared me for what lashing was about. Even today, I started lashing over a 1 year ago and if there is one thing I’ve learned is that there will always be something new to learn and that’s one of the things I love the most about what I do. The world is always changing and as an artist and entrepreneur, I have to change with it. I’m always practicing trying to perfect my technique and that will never stop. I want future lash artists to know that it WILL be difficult, especially if you’re in a metroplex area. It is extremely easy to become discouraged trying
to keep up with the artists who have been in the industry for years! The key is to stay consistent and always keep in mind why you starting in the first place.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start with the Stock Yards in Fort Worth, TX. We would do brunch at The Biscuit Bar, later walk around maybe buy matching cowgirl hats and hopefully catch the cattle drive. Definitely doing dinner and drinks at The Social House. Tuesday were doing brunch at Seven Mile Cafe and after such a big meal, we would have to chill at my place and have girl’s afternoon in, later ordering take-in from Pho Kobee for some good curry pho. Wednesday we are going to Dallas, spending the afternoon at the AT&T Discovery District, take pictures, have a drink, and do lunch at Jaxon Beer Garden. We would make our way back to Fort Worth, and do a movie night in. Thursday we are going to my favorite coffee shop, Summer Moon and then to the Fort Worth Zoo to see some our favorite animals. Later doing dinner at Velvet Taco. Friday we are going for Acai bowls at Nektar in Southlake, Tx and doing some shopping in Southlake Town Square and go for lunch at Sushi Sakana. Later we would meet with some girlfriends and have drinks and tapas at Atico in Fort Worth. Saturday, a home cooked breakfast and we would go to Dry Bar in Grapevine for fun and get a good wash and style. After, we would go to the Grapevine Outlet Mall to find some good deals and do lunch at Blue Goose Cantina. After lunch, we would go back to my place, try on our new clothes and get ready for dinner at Eno’s Pizza Tavern in Dallas with a group and go Waterproof at the Statler for drinks and listen to music. Sunday we would have to sleep in from a busy week and get ready for the next week.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to my father who is no longer with us. He introduced me to so many different arts of food, music, and fashion. He always supported me through everything I wanted to try whether he agreed or not, he always let me be who I wanted to be. Without him, I don’t think I would have found the beauty in the different arts of the world. Including cosmetic beauty.
