We had the good fortune of connecting with Lucero Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lucero, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
Starting! The hardest decision was taking the first step to start my photography journey. During a time of financial uncertainty, taking a leap of faith to start a new career is a risk. This difficult decision would require me to solely rely on my skills. However, forcing myself to take the leap was the best decision I made since photography is my passion.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is that I am true to myself, and that radiates onto my clients. Our photography sessions allow my clients to feel comfortable enough to be their authentic self. I’m excited to continue learning and evolving. The journey has not been easy, but it has been absolutely worth it. My passion for photography began in high school, and I have been building my technique ever since. At the end of 2022, I decided to fully commit to photography, as a career. The greatest lesson I’ve learned along the way is that starting a business can be overwhelming but incredibly rewarding at the same time. I want the world to know I am a proud first generation Mexican-American woman; I found my safe place and I want to pave the way for others to find theirs.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would show her the tourist hotspots, but I’d also mix in local experiences. I’d introduce her a variety of places to eat/drink, and personal favorite such as El Encanto, Jalisco, and Tulum. As an Irving girl, it is essential to spend time in Las Colinas and walk around Mandalay Canal, or travel a short distance to explore Bishop Art in Dallas.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My siblings deserve the recognition in my story. They support me but also humble me; they keep me grounded. My siblings are my pillars.
