We had the good fortune of connecting with Liv Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liv, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I became a personal trainer because I want to help other women  feel confident in the gym. I observed so many people be afraid to workout or enter certain areas of the gym. When I began working out at 16, I was tiny, frail and had no idea what I was doing. I want to encourage people and show others that it doesn’t matter where you start. I started my own business to reach more people. In addition to assisting my clients in their fitness journey, I wanted to empower other personal trainers. When I first became a personal trainer, I had to figure it all out on my own. I started out working for other gyms and companies but I didn’t feel like they provided me direction. I want to lend a hand to other trainers and give them the support I never received in their career.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe what has helped me in my career has also hindered me the most – being a young woman. With the fitness industry being male dominated, being a woman helps attract clients. I don’t portray a stereotypical personal trainer – I try my best to be approachable. Opposingly, I’ve been told I’m too young, that I shouldn’t have male clients, that women are too emotional. All stereotypes that have been proven to be false. Getting to where I am now, has been HARD. Along with overcoming roadblocks, I believe what has helped my company blossom is not being money driven. Don’t get me wrong, finances are imperative to keep a business going. However, Liv Fit’s mission is for our clients to improve their cardiovascular performance, strength and overall health. Our mission has never been aesthetic based. In addition, being willing to help clients find solutions that will better their health long term – even if it doesn’t fatten our bank account.
I would like people to know that Liv Fit strives to empower individuals. We want to help improve people’s overall wellbeing and health. Love your body, treat your body the way it deserves to be and the physique will follow.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting my home, I would take her to the city of Dallas! We would spend the day scouting around the Bishop Art district or lower Greenville. I would take her to Dallas’ latest art exhibit and have lunch on a roof top. After a late afternoon pick me up at Ascension, we would end with dinner at Henry’s and drinks in a picturesque bar.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

Earlier in my career, I did not have a mentor in the fitness industry. Before I met Kristin Clark, my sole support was my parents. My father, Mark Moore, specifically showed me the ropes in all aspects of fitness. Being a collegiate athlete, he has a vast amount of knowledge to offer. He was my soccer coach since I was four. I began weight training for speed performance when I was eight-years-old in our basement. He was meticulous and monitored my progress like an Olympic coach. When I became older and took interest in the gym for myself, my father taught me all the basics. He guided me through my first bench press – a day I will never forget because it sucked. Besides showing me around the weight room and the soccer field, my Dad believes in me more than anyone on this Earth. I can’t express how grateful I am for my Dad endlessly pushing and supporting me.
I had the pleasure of working for Kristin Clark right before I opened my own personal training company. Although Kristin is not a trainer, she is an extraordinary business woman, and a hell of a mom. She was my first employer who invested in me like one of her own. She genuinely wants the best for everyone she works with and helps them reach their next steps. I am so thankful for the investments Kristin made in me and that I can still call her a friend.
