We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa McBride and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born in Minnesota but moved to Texas when I was 10. We lived in the Rio Grand Valley just miles from South Padre Island in the small town of Los Fresnos, population 1102. Growing up in the age of doors open and everybody knowing everybody shaped the person I am today because there was such a sense of community. Every adult looked after each child. We grew up in each other’s homes and the school was the bases of our livelihood Texas football on Friday nights is no joke.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I became a flight attendant for Delta Airlines in 1991. With my college life behind me and my degree in communications, the airline industry was where I sought my passion for travel . Being able in my 33 year career to have visited 6 continents, 65 countries and all 51 states. Loving to learn and embrace different cultures and regions is what drew me to travel professionally.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have had unprecedented access to places that no longer exist by traveling to countries we are no longer allowed to fly to or visit because they are in turmoil .I would take my best friend to the countries of Russia and Ukraine. Not for the dictatorship of Russia and its invasion of Ukraine but for the absolute beauty of these 2 countries and its people. The vast history of countries that are both such beauty that is indiscribable and sad. Russia for breathtaking Red square, the history of the architecture and its kindness of people which is overtaken by the dictatorship. Ukraine for the beauty of the city of Kiev that is now destroyed by war. I believe many people stereotype citizens in these areas to have the same ideals of there countries leadership.
