Meet Lilian Chavira | Founder, Designer, Creative Branding Innovator & Published author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lilian Chavira and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lilian, how does your business help the community or world?
When we say that “Joy In The Breakroom delivers GRATITUDE, spreads JOY and shares HOPE in the workplace” those words are much more than a “catchy slogan” or brand tagline. I am convinced that our world needs those values to be real and a strong foundation for any company, every household and our entire society. The mission of our company is to invest our time, talents and treasure to transform ordinary interactions in the professional setting into personal, meaningful and memorable experiences. To provide innovative ideas under a smart budget is what ignites our passion and make us to wake every morning committed to move forward with our vision. Our logo is a picture of the sun shining in the darkness, which is a visible reminder that every day is a brand-new day, one more opportunity to make a difference. We truly believe that JOY comes from the inside, and a company that possesses JOY internally will shine among others in its industry. Joy In The Breakroom’s mission is not less important during this pandemic. This 2020 more than ever before, we are committed to be a creative resource for diligent leaders who understand the importance of showing appreciation to their people, caring about them, and being open to find safe alternatives to bring their teams “together” even when considering “social distance” expectations and an imminent financial struggle. Our lives and the way to do business had changed so drastically! The hospitality and events industries had been hit so hard, corporate functions had been cancelled, social gatherings are restricted, offices and break rooms had been shut-down, strict safety guidelines are mandatory, many small business permanently closed or they are still fighting to survive and the modality of ‘working from home” in a very isolated society is a reality now. However, the “new normal” should not prevent honor, goodness, love, gratitude and hope to be received and given away. There is still room in the workplace for fun, laughter, color, art and beauty. JOY and “togetherness” are essential and can truly help all of us to overcome the many challenges ahead, no doubt that we can get back up stronger and wiser than never before! We are so thankful for the companies that keep giving us the opportunity to exceed our own limits and create beautiful designs in the middle of this pandemic which can only be accomplished with the help and professionalism of amazing local restaurants, vendors and business contacts. It has been proven that TOGETHER everything is possible! From custom designed “care packages” including inspirational leadership books that can be mailed to employees/clients’ personal addresses… or safely planned “themed gatherings” with individual packaged menus and happening with 6’apart protocols, or “fun treats” including personal notes from leadership and presented inside disposable boxes to surprise the staff, or thoughtful and beautiful gift baskets expressing sympathy and showing support during personal tragedies, …our designs always highlight our clients’ logos, colors and brands. They are filled with kindness and will put a smile in someone’s face. The impact of those “intentional touches” will last longer than all the negativism and division happening in today’s world. As the founder of this concept, I refuse to quit. I am determined to not let anything, not even COVID19 to kill this dream and destroy a successful company that was blooming beyond what we could had expected just a few months ago. God has been faithful through these tough times. Doors continue to open and we keep experiencing the “magic” of working with outstanding business leaders who had made a way where it looked like there was not one. JOY is much more contagious than any virus… WE CAN TOGETHER SPREAD JOY!
What is the most important factor behind your success / the success of your brand
“Creative Branding” that is what we incorporate to all our designs, that’s what makes our business concept so different! We provide innovative ideas to highlight our clients’ brands, logos, colors and mission statements-front and center- the entire time in a delightful and memorable experience. Our creative touch executes their vision and elevates every design telling their story in a powerful way. We understand the impact of effective branding for that reason we listen carefully to what the goal is, and then our job is to delivery beyond expectations. Our expertise will bring the “wow-factor” to every opportunity, making an impact while stretching every penny to ensure that our clients get always the best value. All we do has to be filled with intention! When we cater events, all diet restrictions are considered. When we are hired to décor spaces, we bring the magic and when we design gift baskets, they will be all about the recipient. It has been a beautiful journey to become a creative resource and conspiring partner, (instead of just a vendor) for visionary leaders with the intention of surprising their PEOPLE, employees, clients or business partners as they bring excellence to everything they do!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well some relatives and best friends had already come from out of town to visit our family and we had felt so proud of touring with them our beautiful City of Frisco, the place we had called HOME for the last 7 years! Our memorable tours include: – Of course, as I am married to a huge sports fan, the experience begins with the incredible Cowboys’ World Headquarters and Practice Facility at The Star where they will find too so many cool restaurants and fun places to take amazing photos. Also, it is great to tour the Soccer National Hall of Fame or attending a game at awesome stadiums like FC Dallas (soccer), Frisco Rough Riders (baseball), Texas Legends (basketball) and very soon PGA golf tournaments too. – As an art lover myself, I make Hall Park a forced stop with its beautiful green areas, impressive world-renowned art collection, collaborative and entertaining spaces, restaurants and retail options. Other cultural spots like the Frisco Heritage Museum, Museum of the American Railroad, National Video Games Museum. Most likely Frisco Discovery Center will be showcasing a talented local artist(s) exhibition and if dates work out, I will share with them the magic at any events planned by Frisco Arts Foundation or AGS Picasso Gallery – City of Frisco Hall, Public Library and downtown Frisco also is a -must go- with unique murals, “I Heart Frisco’ sculptures and cute photo spots, family-owned traditional restaurants and other beautiful areas to make very special memories – Stonebriar Mall offers different high-end or all kind of culinary options and fun experiences like Sky diving iFly, KidZania USA, movie theaters and beautiful hotels And for sure, a drive or hike around Frisco neighborhoods, it’s parks and the schools where our kids had made so many friends. The City of Frisco was recognized as the Fastest Growing City in The US 2016 and 5th on 2019 also has been named “the most surprising city to live in” or ranked #1 in job growth in its category. However, it is its people, the professionals and families that had made this place the best place for our family to settle and our business to grow. We truly thank God for bringing us here and we love when others get to experience what this beautiful Dallas suburb offers to its visitors and residents. Come and visit us!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, definitely… I dedicate this article to our AMAZING clients! Joy In The Breakroom’s journey has been such a struggle and honor at the same time, these last few months definitely took this entrepreneurial challenge to an imaginable level, however I am not doing this alone. Every client touches my soul with their trust and referrals, every vendor gives me tools to be the best we can be, and business associates share with me their greatness. My mentors let me absorb their wisdom. My faith is my pillar, God my boss, my family and friends, my biggest support and inspiration. All of these together changed my life once and keep giving purpose to my days. JOY IN THE BREAKROOM is my own flowing fountain of JOY and GRATITUDE! I specially dedicate this shoutout to those clients who called us in the middle of the darkest days, right after the ‘stay at home’ orders were lifted, when we thought that was going to be impossible for this ‘non-essential” business concept to survive…. from the bottom of our heart THANK YOU for giving us the opportunity to adapt, to overcome the challenges, to find a way. THANK YOU for blessing our vendors when they needed it the most, THANK YOU for loving your people so much, truly going far and beyond with your expressions of gratitude in times when just having a job could be more than enough. Instead, you CARE for them, you care for us. You reminded me that we truly are on this together! GREATNESS is not what you have, it is what you give… and that is why YOU ARE SO GREAT!
