We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Soley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I would for sure say that my work life balance has gotten a lot better due to Covid. Before Covid I was focused on business 24/7, I put Lovegood before everything else. Now I am making sure to find time to be in my 30’s and enjoying life. I am literally stopping to smell the roses instead of running by them without giving them a second thought. 2020 was a very hard year for both my business and myself, but I honestly am grateful that I have changed for the better.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Lovegood is a New Orleans based company that caters to events and wedding rentals. We focus on specialty, vintage furniture for corporate, production, social gatherings, and weddings. We will provide the perfect decor, furniture and bric-à-brac touches for our client’s big day. Lovegood has a vintage, eclectic vibe. We are home to over 250 mismatched chairs, 22 church pews, upholstered furniture for lounge spaces, farm tables, bars and so much more! Our collection is rented à la carte or by packages. Funny story, antiques have been in my family as long as I can recall. My great aunt and uncle actually owned an antique store on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I have been going to flea markets and antique stores since I was a very small child. I grew up appreciating old treasures with a story. Is this business easy, no. It is tiring with long hours, but at the same time it is the most rewarding thing I have accomplished in 32 years.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Though I am the owner of Lovegood Rentals, my family is truly the backbone to my success over the last 6 years (we will be 7 in June, crazy!). My mom was the first person I told about the idea of Lovegood, and my parents were so supportive. I can’t tell you how many estate sales, flea market, and miles we traveled those first few years to gather, pick, and collect for the Lovegood Collection. We even went all the way to Kentucky to pickup 26 church pews in a 26′ Penske truck. My mom and I also built several of our bars, backdrops, and all of our classic farm tables before my brother stepped in to take over the building part of the rental business. Brock now has created over 18 bars, 18 pub tables, and 50 tables just to start the list. Totally a family business since Day 1.
