We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Minor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My husband and I have 6 kids, and we were eager to have a place away from the suburbs where our kids could grow up playing and running around and exploring without the restrictions of fences and yards. That’s really where our dream for the Hilltop Hideaway started. Having a property like this also gives me the opportunity to work and be creative while also staying home and raising our young kids. I love interior design, and I’ve gotten to design all of the properties we’ve renovated, which has been a fun creative outlet for me while being a mom. This property has been our family’s biggest project yet, and we searched for the perfect place to build this vacation rental for 2 years before finding this beautiful acreage in Glen Rose! It grew from there and is now a 16-acre vacation rental with multiple cabins, a pickleball court, hot tub, disc golf field, 3-story treehouse, and more!

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Creating the Hilltop Hideaway has been a dream of mine for the last several years. I’ve helped design and customize the smaller properties that my husband and I have renovated, but this property was much more intricate, from making the interior feel modern yet cozy, to adding all the amenities around the acreage. It’s been hard juggling family life and everything that comes along with managing a property of this size, but I’m so proud of how we have created a space for families and friends to make lifelong memories. A recent guest told me that her 67-year-old dad woke up his 13 year old grandson at 11pm and said, “Lets go shoot some hoops.” They stayed out on the court playing basketball together until 2 AM! He said it was the best vacation he’s taken in all his 67 years. Creating lasting memories like that with family members is absolutely priceless, and hearing stories like that makes it all worth it!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
At the Hilltop Hideaway there is so much to do that most people end up staying on the property for their entire time there! When you’re not on the property, Glen Rose has a ton to do and see like visiting Dinosaur Valley State Park to see preserved dinosaur tracks, driving through Fossil Rim safari and feeding the animals, or hiking around Big Rocks Park. After a day of exploring, I’d encourage you to settle in to the hot tub and enjoy a glass of wine or make some s’mores around the fire pit overlooking a gorgeous sunset!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to our kids, who tag along with me to our properties and have spent hours walking the aisles of Floor and Decor and being entertained by painters and construction vehicles!
