Meet LaTaijah Jones-Warren | Licensed Cosmetologist

We had the good fortune of connecting with LaTaijah Jones-Warren and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaTaijah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always been afraid to fail and it caused me to withhold on starting my business but overtime I missed out on so many opportunities. Now that I’ve started I have so many goals I want to achieve and I plan on doing just that.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My passion for the beauty industry sparked up at the beginning of my teenage years. I always wanted to do my own hair, wear lashes, or play in makeup and once I got the basics down I eventually started practicing on my mom. Sadly I never thought to take it seriously until I had my first son, I knew that I did not want to clock in everyday to a job that did not care if he was sick or if I had a babysitter so in 2019 I started T’Amour Beauty. I started out selling lash strips and doing lash extensions which I loved! My mom allowed me to set up an in home lash studio in her house. Overtime I was able to I gain clients and perfect my skills but I ended up taking a break from it for awhile after find out I was pregnant with my second son. Months after having him, I started to think of my next business venture, and I came to the conclusion that I really wanted to pursue doing hair so I signed up for cosmetology school in January of 2023. While in school I was a top student, gained many of clients along the way, and learned from some really great instructors. I was able to graduated on time in December of 2023 which was an amazing achievement of mine but the craziest thing about it was I had been hiding the fact that I was pregnant. I found out 2 weeks before graduation I found out I was pregnant with my daughter and I knew then it’d delay my process a bit but it really didn’t. I got my license February of 2024. After having her it took me awhile to actually find a shop and gain my confidence to start back up but my husband & mother were a really big help throughout the process and I let my kids be my motivation.
Thankfully I was able to find a newly built salon suite in Cedar Hill. I’ve been there a few months now and I absolutely love it. I missed connecting with people and helping them feel beautiful. I’m blessed to be able to do what I love and still have time to spend with my family.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a big family person! We love to get out and find things to do with the kids. Our favorite place right now has to be Epic Central, there are so many things to do and places to go. I love eating at Serious Pizza and then taking the kids to play at Adventure Playground. Even the Main Event near there is one of our favorites! I’m all about finding new things to try and making memories with those I love the most.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to first thank my Heavenly Father for giving me my talent and opening up doors I never knew existed!
Secondly I’d love to thank my family. We’re very big on pursuing our dreams and starting businesses, my husband owns and runs a mobile mechanic service, my father owns and runs a trucking company, while my mom owns and runs a custom t-shirt business. They knew my passion for the beauty industry and they encouraged me to do the same so I started Pretty and Pampered by Taijah.
