We had the good fortune of connecting with Laquitta Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laquitta, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea of my business because I never wanted to put myself or any of my clients in the position that a shady tax preparer put me in before.

That experience caused me to want to start my own tax preparation company to show people that there are still some good business owners and that I can treat my clients how I want to be treated.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Pretty Quick Tax Service is more than just a tax preparation service. We provide a variety of services in the financial sector. We offer services for business start ups, business credit, business loans, credit repair, notary, as well as tax preparation software for those that are needing professional software for their tax companies.

I’m most proud of the growth of my company because I started off with 24 clients my first year to now having well over 3500 clients!

I got to where I am today by being consistent in my business even when I wanted to give up and also by educating myself and investing in the knowledge to make myself a staple in the tax industry.

Of course it wasn’t easy nor was it over night because it took me 15 years to get where I am today. There were and always will be obstacles that try to stop you but you have to just continue to do what you can until everything is straightened out.

I want the world to know that Pretty Quick Tax Service is building a nationwide brand that will be just as big as the National known tax services with more of our clients wants and needs in mind!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Im really not a breakfast person unless I’m cooking myself but I would treat my friend to lunch at Posados in mesquite and we would hit up multiple different restaurants throughout the week like, True kitchen and cocktails, Southern Social in forney and the Turkey Dam or Kiss downtown!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First off, I want to give thanks to God from which all my blessings are coming from. Secondly I’d like to thank Melanie Druery a true friend/family for always being the great person that she is!

I’d like to thank my team which includes my General manager Latoya Farr plus over 60 people across the United States that help PQTS become a million+ dollar tax preparation company.

I’d also like to show love to my family which includes my husband Dwaylon Skyler, my mother Veradee Smith and my boys Randearl Johnson and Dwaylon Skyler plus my bonus children as well because they are the reason why I’m so motivated to succeed!
