We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristen Banner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristen, what role has risk played in your life or career?
If you were to ask me 5 years ago where I would be today.. I would have told you a completely different story. My story is even better than I could have imagined, because of the risks I have taken, continue to take & my attitude about it.

Real Estate is a brutal dog-eat-dog lifestyle & it is not for the faint of heart. It’s not just a career. You have to be on call everyday, passionate, quick thinking, solve problems at lightning speed, understand the process, know when to communicate and when to keep quiet. The best thing about this life — is there is no cap. You can work as hard or as little as you want, & you will reap those rewards and the freedom, depending on how driven you are and the risks you take.

Something Real Estate has taught me & is arguably the most important, even in my daily life, is you do not need to care what anyone else thinks because no one else is you.

Go to that open house and smile, post about that new listing even if your marking is unattractive, go to that appointment even though you have no idea what to expect, wear those new shoes and rock them with all the confidence of Beyoncé & keep doing it! Build your own risky brand and be consistent. You will rise up and get to where you are going. You will lose clients, friends, motivation & ideas. You will hit really low times from every avenue of life but you will gain SO much more than that, if you just keep consistent and take that risky road instead of the well paved one.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve grown a lot in the last year. With growth comes confidence, value & knowledge.

Seeing my business, and myself, grow was exactly what I needed as a mom, friend, daughter & Realtor. I pride myself on being ‘not your average girl’. In my attire, my attitude, my life, my thoughts, my relationships & my career. I make my own rules with a creative outlook, and that passion overflows into my business. I have learned that you have to wake up everyday and decide how to make it better than the last. Applying the knowledge that you learned to the next transaction is key to success and forever upgrading yourself. That is similar to the home selling or home buying process. I wear many hats and I want to balance them with grace and passion. I am here to guide you through that roller coaster with all of the knowledge and confidence you need to make hard decisions and feel great about them. I understand that every mind is different with perspectives and opinions. I respect that.

You’ve got to trust that process & leave the stress to me. That is on my shoulders.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Dallas / Fort Worth area has something for everyone. If you are completely new to the area and don’t know where to start, I would suggest checking out ‘Dallas Love List’ on Instagram. They review restaurants, venues, boutiques, hole in the wall and famous places all over the metroplex and show you all the vibes from every angle.

Being a mother, I tend to get excited about kid-friendly venues. A couple of my favorites would be Great Wolf Lodge, or any of the Museums in Downtown Dallas. You’ve probably heard of Great Wolf Lodge but it’s an indoor water park with a hotel and an amazing experience! The Museums are filled with fun interactive lessons and they are organized well.

If you are looking for something date night worthy, check out Knox-Henderson or Deep Ellum for some live music and great food. Pete’s Piano Bar is great for people watching.

If you want something sports related – head over to Arlington and you have the massive Cowboys stadium or Globe Life Park. Texas Live is SO FUN to pregame before your sporting events.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am very lucky to have the support system that I do. My friends and family have always been my biggest cheerleaders and help me out when I need to do that last minute showing or work on a weekend. I am forever grateful for everyone deeply believing in me and keeping me on my toes, always. I would not be able to make this life work without them.
