We had the good fortune of connecting with Kourtney Lampkin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kourtney, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking can be a scary word and rightfully so. To me risk taking means absolutely believing in yourself with trusting you will succeed. You will come up against challenges but it’s how you handle them and keep moving forward. Risk taking has played a major role in my life, it forced me to trust God and have confidence in myself. I took the risk of opening Royalty Ballet Company because classical ballet is my passion.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m am trained in classical ballet since the age of ten years old. I continued to study the art of Classical Ballet , because I am forever a student of classical arts. That’s how I believe to always better myself. I never get complacent, because I’m constantly setting goals for myself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite things to do is have a nice relaxing day by the beach. To actually take the time out to silence myself and re’connect with others.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to recognize my mother Ruth Lampkin. She believed in me and wanted me to follow my dreams. Every summer she would take ME TO the Debbie Allen dance camp where I would STUDY under the most prestigious instructor herself Debbie Allen.
