We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberley Dietrich and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimberley, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
I want to be a successful, well-respected entrepreneur, known for my innovative and thriving businesses. I own Mind Your Payroll LLC, The Art Store by Kim, and have a notary service business. By the end of my career, I aim to have established a legacy of excellence in my fields, having grown my companies into industry leaders. My employees should see me as an inspirational and supportive leader who fostered a positive and productive work environment. I’d like to be financially secure, allowing myself to enjoy the fruits of my labor, and have a significant impact on my community through mentorship.
Ultimately, I want to achieve a balance where I can look back with pride on my professional accomplishments, while also having maintained a fulfilling personal life, enjoying time with my family, indulging in my passion for art, and nurturing my love for gardening. 🌸🌿
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an artist who loves exploring various mediums, including wood burning, 3D art on canvas, chicken wire yard sculptures, and fence painting. I picked up a paintbrush in 2015, curious to see if I could paint. Initially, I was disappointed with my first painting and threw it away because it didn’t match the vision in my head. However, I retrieved it the next day and realized it wasn’t terrible after all. Since then, I’ve been practicing and growing as an artist.
I am proud and honored for others to buy my art and enjoy it. I have been surprised by the different people who have connected with my art from all age groups.
Much of my artwork draws inspiration from my personal experiences during vacations and various adventures. My latest painting features Walker, a road runner known for its peculiar habit of walking instead of running. Another piece, depicting a girl walking through a sunflower field, is a nostalgic nod to my childhood trips to sunflower farms in Florida during weekend drives. My collection includes numerous paintings of women, birds, foxes, bears, my bordoodle dog, my son, and various landscapes. 🌻🎨
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is accepting rejection. The first few times were heartbreaking, but now I let it roll off me. I understand that my art isn’t right for every show, and that’s okay. It’s just about finding the right fit.
I am a hard-working mom and entrepreneur, managing three businesses. Time management is a challenge, so I set specific times for art, accounting, and my other business services. I don’t have all the answers, and some days I struggle to stick to the schedule, but that’s life. You have to work hard for things, or you won’t appreciate them.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would start at Inks Lake State Park to enjoy the trails, canoeing, and swimming. Next, we’d visit Longhorn Cavern State Park and then head to Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls. Our journey would continue to Pedernales Falls State Park for some hiking. On the way home, we’d stop by Fredericksburg, Enchanted Rock State Park, and Palo Pinto Mountains State Park. It would be a full week of exploring the sights of Texas.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I could not be who I am today without the support of my family and friends. Artists Enclave of Denton County was my first art group that helped me grow. My mom, Anita Hart, and son, Rowdy Clark, have been my inspiration from the beginning and want to thank them for all the love and support. My friends who took time out of their busy schedules to come to my art shows and promote me which include my boyfriend, Glenn Harper, and daughter-in-law Jessica Clark. My other friends who I would like to thank personally is Ruth Shumate Vidales, Dana Schares, Lisa West, Lisa Burdick, and David Burdick.
