We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Bernard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim, what do you attribute your success to?
Leaning into community and knowing when to ask for help. You are your own boss but nothing truly happens without collaborations or needing to outsource a job that you may or may not be able to do yourself. Takes you a lot further faster.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is nothing more than my authenticity and carrying my spiritual beliefs with me in anything thing that I create. I’m am most proud of my journey to see how far I’ve come since launching my very first idea to now. It definitely wasn’t easy and I wanted to give up plenty of times, but I continued to persevere with the mindset of knowing that things would come together for my good in the end. When you fall or run into a stumbling block, you have to just be more discipline in the hard times to help push you through because the feeling to work won’t always be there, especially in the hard times. When someone sees or thinks about my brand, I want them to think that I put my heart and soul into the work because i did.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Maybe go to Bishop Arts or Downtown area for some sort of entertainment or food, i.e. Bread Winner, Paradiso or Monarch.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom has always been my #1 fan and motivator for every idea I’ve wanted to take on and try. My friends who listen and encourage and a few being personal mentors, even though they may not even realize it.
