We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendall Salsberry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kendall, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite motivational quote is actually from the Bible. My first year teaching I bought a mouse pad that said “God is within her, she will not fail.” I had failed multiple times in my life but knew that I was not going to fail anymore at my career. Looking down and seeing that verse gives me motivation to tackle my work because God is guiding my steps and I have faith that everything will turn out amazing. He has tremendously blessed my business, Salsberry Photography http://www.salsberry.photography and I take work one day at a time, receiving my daily provision from Him.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am absolutely obsessed with photography and have been my whole life. I shoot high end real estate homes for Realty Pro Shots, the #1 Real Estate Photography company in Dallas/Fort Worth, and I also have my own wedding, portrait, and lifestyle photography company, Salsberry Photography. I think I have an eye for all kinds of photography, but the magic really happens in my editing. I recently had a baby, and I’ve transitioned to editing for Realty Pro Shots, while still booking weddings for Salsberry Photography. I take the time to edit every single photo to perfection in my signature editing style. Getting to where my favorite hobby and passion is my full time job took a lot of trial and error in the career department. I always considered myself more left brained and went to law school to become a criminal prosecutor. I worked in many prominent offices, including the California Attorney General’s office under Kamala Harris, before moving to Texas where I started subbing while studying for the bar. I ended up loving teaching so much I did that instead for 3 years. I have been doing photography full time the past two years and this is the happiest, most fulfilling career to me. I don’t have to surrender my happiness and mental health to challenging careers that brought me no joy. I can put my pride in my degrees and education aside and crush the job that brings me the most joy. I have learned to trust God and surrender my plans for my life and my will to His, because every single time He’s right.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oohh I love this question. I am a total foodie and I have been to some amazing spots in Fort Worth. The best real Italian pizza is Cane Rosso. Yogi’s has true New York bagels. The Social House, Blue Sushi, Oni Ramen, and MASH’d on West 7th have the best food. For pho, which is always a must, my favorites are Pho Hung on Camp Bowie and Pho in the Box in Keller. I love to do outdoorsy things, so my favorite things to do are hike at Eagle Mountain Lake, rent city bikes downtown at the Trinity River, and find people who own boats and persuade them to take me out on Grapevine Lake. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
