We had the good fortune of connecting with Keisha Tucker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keisha, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
The end goal for me is Time and Financial Freedom!!! I want to be a saut after Repurpose Fashion Designer. The one that is known for helping to build confidence and style through fashion.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart from other Designers is I prefer to take the OLD unworn clothes in someone’s closet and make them into unique one of a kind garments you can’t buy in the store. I excited and most proud of accomplishing my goal of presenting at NYFW in February of this year. I have gotten where I am today with hard work, dedication and the help of my team. I have done a fundraiser Fashion Show every year. This is my 9th year and I help raise funds and bring awareness to a local non-profit in the DFW area. This year’s benefits The Good Samaritan at the Baker estates, in South Dallas, TX. It wasn’t easy when I 1st started doing the fashion shows, as the years went on and I learned what I can and should do better, for the next year, Things became a little easier each time I did a show! I had to learn how to pick a venue, how many models I needed, how many garments to make…etc.. It was very overwhelming at times, and my team and family were there to help easy the situation. I want the world to know me as the “Repurpose Kueen”! If you are looking to have something custom made, look no further than the clothes in your closet! I truly enjoy working with women on a weightloss journey and women looking for clothes that are unique and different and speaks before they do when they walk into any room!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came in town I would take her to see the Cowboys facility in Frisco,, take a tour of Cowboys stadium, visit the Perot Museum, and the Museum of Illusions. The food places I would take her to are Casa de Vegano, The Vegan food house, Cris and John’s and Al Bernat’s. We would also have to go to Chicken and Pickle and Pin Stack.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this to my Dad. He was my biggest supporter and encouraged me to be the best at whatever I set my mind to.
