Meet Kaylee Fifer | Owner & Artist of KF Designs Art

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaylee Fifer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaylee, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I have always been a time and goal oriented person due to my upbringing of being a collegiate athlete. Forcing myself into having strict timelines and setting realistic goals has played a pivotal role in making steps forward, organizing my time effectively and having success along the way. Being able to set a schedule, stick to it and have intentions for myself is not only satisfying but encourages me to keep moving forward on some of those “harder days.” I cannot stress enough the importance of your “To-Do” list being in one spot, letting one know when and what needs to get accomplished and what deadlines are approaching. By sticking to each due date, I’m able to prioritize my tasks effectively, narrowing my focus on what is most important with a stress-free plan. Nothing feels better than creating goals and steps for yourself and seeing you reach those limits, even when the objective seems a little out there.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My name is Kaylee Fifer and I am the creator and artist behind KF Designs Art. Born and raised in the DFW area, my journey as an artist started at a young age; getting to watch and create with my Grandfather who was also a full time artist, learning many techniques and perspectives. And for a short while, I was even lucky enough to call San Diego, CA home, which is where I found my love for being outside so captivating. Holding onto this feeling, one thing that has always stuck with me has been that love for nature and the beauty that surrounds us everywhere. I genuinely love to express the feelings and scenes around me by exploring marks, trusting the process and providing those captured moments for all viewers. Early works included experimenting with brush strokes and lines to develop fun and exciting takes on real flowers, plants and other things found in nature. Through time, I have taken that love for nature and expressive line work and turned my art into more interpretable views and ways of thinking, including less recognizable imagery and limited color palettes. Currently, I am creating abstract works that capture movement, emotion, and elegance through bold textures and shimmering colors. My work is designed to evoke a sense of fluidity and luxury, inviting the viewer to pause and feel it for themselves. Each piece blends organic motion with refined materials, making it a striking addition to modern interiors and curated collections.
Still being at the early stages of my career as an artist, there have been several a challenges in the beginning of this journey to owning a creative business and balancing my home and work-life areas in an effective manner. The big thing that I have learned as I embark on this adventure is to lean into those around me that truly support and love me. Without their kind words, encouragement and gentle nudges to get better and reach higher, I would not have the success I currently have or the motivation to stick with it. There are so many highs and lows that go into running any business, so being constantly reminded that you are on the right path, creating and shaping your future with each step forward, is a blessing in itself.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh, this is a great question! Depending on the time of year, let’s go with early fall…I would take my friend to a few places! DFW has so much to offer, from great views outdoors, an amazing range of food to sample and so many different facets of people/ways of living to explore. The first thing that I would do after picking up my friend from the airport is take them to one of the local Tex-Mex spots for some sizzling fajitas paired with chips and queso, because who can resist some melted cheese, ha! Then, to work off some of that great food, I would take them over to Rock Ledge Park or Arbor Hills and hike, exploring all of the water, nature and wild animals that North Texas has to offer. The next day, I would take my friend to the Bishop Arts area to explore a local coffee-shop, buy some new clothing from one of the small boutiques in the area and be around live music while seeing several different people from all walks of life pass you by. Some other great spots to include are Lower Greenville for a drink at the Truck Yard while you sit on a swing, or the Fabrication Yard where you get to see artists in their studios daily and amazing murals that are constantly revolving with the seasons and events of the time. The last spot that I would take my friend to is Sports Garden. Being a retired college volleyball player, I still love a little time in the sand, playing the sport I love and having a few drinks with similar-minded people while the sun sets!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely could not be where I am today without both of my parents and my fiance, Mike.
To my parents, I want to say thank you for believing in me when I doubted myself, for lifting me up when the path was not always clear and for standing by my side through the triumphs and the setbacks. Your unwavering love, encouragemnet and sacrifices have shaped who I am today and I am forever grateful for your constant faith in me and being a consitant source of strength.
To my future husband, I want to say thank you for always standing by my side, for supporting all of my wild dreams and craziest ideas without hesitation, and for keeping me grounded with your honesty and love. Your belief in me gives me the courage to chase after everything I imagine, and your realness reminds me of what truly matters. I am so grateful for your support, your laughter and your heart.
